Allie really didn't like the idea of splitting up. It seemed kind of pointless. While on their own they could cover more ground, they were also more vulnerable to the con artist they were tracking down and any traps she'd set along the way. A girl able to stay this many steps ahead with so many hunters on her tail had to be bright enough to at least set some kind of precaution traps along the way. The more eyes to spot them, the more comfortable Allie would feel.
But they were running out of other options.
She was getting pretty tired by the end of the day. The need to stay vigilant kept her going, eyes open, especially with the added assistance of a little coffee. She was strapped and ready with weapons already in her shoulder and hip holsters. Unlike Deena, Allie didn't just shove her gun underneath the waistband of her jeans. The holsters made things feel a little more professional, and if she ever had to cover as a cop, she already had the look and the gear down. When Allie said she was a cop, people believed it.
After getting out of the jeep with Deena and preparing their weapons in place, Allie eye-rolled when the keys were tossed in her direction. "Oh goodie," she chuckled. "I swear, when we find this chick, someone needs to put a homing device on her to keep people from having to do this shit again. It'd save a lot of time."
