You open your eyes and you are in a stately room with fine trappings and thick stone walls. You look outside and a dragon flies passed your window and yet that is clearly a sprawling, modern city you see in the distance. You search your room for any clue as to how you arrived in… where are you? All you find is a scroll inviting you to enjoy your stay in the Land of Make Believe. And that's when things get odd...

GAME & CAST & FAQ & RULES & WANTED & CREDIT

A hundred years after the end of the great decimating war, the human population has started to bounce back, riding on the wave of remembered, rebuilt, and improved-upon technology. The compliance of the first desperate survivors bled into generation after generation, until the general freedoms of their previous societies were hardly more than a faded, sour collective memory. In the global society of 2140, hot-bed issues like abortion and homosexual marriage are apparently things of the past. All forms of media are government controlled and censored, as are music, art, and literature. Religion of any kind is completely banned.

As for society itself, humanity is divided over a single line of red tape, separated between Government Officials and General Public, and every citizen is given their place in the machine as the result of specialized testing (intelligence, genetics, psychiatric) given on their sixteenth birthday. Capitalism and Democracy are long gone; everyone works for the greater good of the global community. Total compliance is reinforced by the presence of mood-suppressors that lace the food supply, maintained by government scientists. All are healthy, comfortable, and at peace.

At least, on the surface.

The cracks of the Utopian society began to show up ten years ago, in 2130, and they’ve started to widen. An underground movement of rebels has been compromising the Reformed United Nations' (or R.U.N.) complete control; in the past, the occasional upstart who dared to print contraband or criticize the government were quietly whisked away for Rehabilitation - many were never seen again. But the movements have since dug deeper, creeping slowly through the infrastructure of society like an invasive vine. Despite the more drastic measures recently enacted by RUN, like more restrictive Morality Laws and public executions, the rebels remain - and their numbers are growing.

Price of Peace is an OC-friendly community, based in a dystopian society set one hundred years in the future.

TESTIMONIALS

"I wish I could tell you the taste of half-wilted cabbage makes up for the fact that it won't turn you into an idiot, but... screw it, I don't like cabbage anyway." -Sean Young, aka Piper; rebel hacker

"Look at the difference; a hundred years ago, kids were being terrorized in their own schools. Nowadays they walk through zen gardens, not metal detectors." -Danielle Karrigan; RUN School Administrator

"Rehabilitation is just a fancy word that means 'we will make you behave, or we will make you disappear'." -Rebecca Hill, aka Ghost; rebel smuggler

"I love happy endings." -Daryl Johnson; citizen janitor
