Having ridden the coattails of this aura of fear, Bartemius Crouch, Sr. has risen to power, widely supported and completely unchecked; slowly he has transformed the Ministry of Magic into an Orwellian regime. Now nothing but a Dark Lord with approval ratings, Crouch's fanatical pursuit of order tightens his choke hold on Britain. While innocent dissidents rot in Azkaban, Death Eaters roam free - untouchable due to their wealth and status, they feed back into the public's terror and ultimately maintain the Ministry's dictatorship. The only resistance to this madness is the Order of the Phoenix. Once an organization dedicated to spreading unfiltered knowledge and duelling only when necessary, under Alastor Moody's new leadership the Order is becoming progressively more militant, combating both Voldemort and their own government in an attempt to finally restore peace. This is an AU Marauders-era RPG with an emphasis on plot, politics and war. It follows the characters on every side of the struggle - their failures, their successes, their stories and their endings as they fight and die to uphold their own ideals. ORIGINAL CHARACTERS WELCOME! The date is September 1st, 2000. It's the start of the third school year since the Battle of Hogwarts in the spring of 1998. Some of the Hogwarts staff have quit, some have retired, and others are no longer with us. Under the supervision of Headmistress McGonagall, an all-new staff has been hired, bringing a stream of young blood through the corridors of the ancient castle. New classes are being offered for the first time in hundreds of years. These students are excited to be the first in a new era of wizardry - an era no longer threatened by the dark arts or a power-hungry Dark Lord. Despite restoration and progress, there is a new threat on the horizon. Modern muggle warfare has reached an unpredictable peak. Over the summer of 2000, Durmstrang Institute was destroyed by muggle aircraft, having been magically unseen to the pilots. While the school is rebuilt, the student body of Durmstrang will be sorted into houses at Hogwarts School. These students have been taught to embrace the dark arts and uphold old wizarding traditions (such as not intermarrying with non-purebloods). The fresh new staff and both groups of students will take some time to adjust. Furthermore, the rest of wizarding England has experienced an influx of dark wizards as well (the families and teachers of the Durmstrang student body). This game will focus on Hogwarts' young new staff and how they deal with a flood of adolescent supporters of the dark arts. At all costs, any suspicious or uniquely powerful students must be supervised thoroughly. No one amongst the Ministry, Hogwarts or the Order of the Phoenix is willing to allow another rise to power by a sinister outcast. -- -- (Comment on this)
