The question caught Remus off guard a bit and it was evident in the way his brows and mouth twitched, but he still kept his grin. Watching Regulus, he wondered whether or not to be honest with that answer. "I know myself well enough. I try to like myself well enough, too." It was as honest a response as he would give, and part of him wondered where Regulus was going with this.
"In more ways than one, I'm told." His smile widened and he looked almost bashful, turning his gaze to the ground. It was true. He certainly wasn't the optimist James was. Or even Sirius, despite Sirius' sometimes darker temperament. Remus tried to stay logical. Quiet. "You know, not all Gryffindors are loud and boisterous. It's the house of the brave and loyal. You can be realistic and still loyal at the same time." It was then Lupin realized that Regulus probably didn't associate with any Gryffindors outside of Sirius' circle. That would explain the attitude, at least.
It was a dangerous consideration. But, the way Regulus said it, Remus didn't think met meant it as a true threat. He had lifted his head almost in surprise before letting out a light laugh and clearing his throat. He suddenly realized what might be happening and he wasn't sure how to respond. IT was true, he found Regulus...intriguing. But, at the same time... His ears went a little red and he did his best to answer with a straight face. "Dueling can be pretty dangerous if you're not careful." He wasn't entirely sure what he meant by that.
