He nodded as Regulus spoke about killing the Dark Lord, his face growing more serious for a moment at the thought. He was happy to move on to discuss the poor state of his hair and his clothes. It was a more comfortable discussion for the moment. "Well, maybe I like the unkempt look. I hear it's becoming the Muggle fashion these days." It wasn't, but Remus was good at brushing off non-compliments with quiet humor and casual remarks such as this.
Yet, Regulus seemed genuine in his well wishes and the other man found himself surprised and even, strangely enough, honored. "Thank you, Regulus. I mean it." He paused. "You know....it can't be easy for you given what you've done." He paused, considering how to phrase his next sentence. "I know a thing or two about being outcast. It's not easy. But, if you ever want to take your mind off of things and want to put your knowledge to good use, perhaps you would be willing to advise me on my course from time to time. You're right about needing to understand the Dark Arts to combat them. I don't have the same knowledge as you might, only what I know from books and my experience battling it. Just...consider it an offer."
