Rita didn't respond to his questions, they rhetorical and she knew that. Though it didn't stop her from thinking about the answers to that. To some degree, she did only care about selling the papers and didn't care who she stepped on. Yet, there was part of her that still felt bad that Kingsley felt the need to storm in here. She hated him sure, but she cared about him too, and maybe more than she hated him today.
"Selling my readers short then, they are interested in more than that. Though it doesn't hurt to have it." She smiled before she stood up straight let her hands leave the desk. The smile faded quickly as his words sunk in. She didn't feel like she was better than it, she felt like she pandered to it. She was successful because she wrote what sold and got people talking. Rita wasn't too bothered about the truth of it, she only wanted a narrative that sold papers.
"Are you sure about the no comment," she tried again. "I definitely could sell your side of the story." Rita felt like she was clutching at straws to keep him here, to have a reason to talk to him. "I see the headline now. Auror speaks out against allegations of Corruption." Rita's hands when up as she spoke as if displaying the headline before her. "I could even throw in a handsome here," she said with a slightly flirtatious tone and bat of her eyelashes.
