RP: Alice & Marlene
Who: Alice Longbottom and Marlene McKinnon
What: Discussing Igor Karkaroff
Where: Alice's office
When: 13th September, 1987
Marlene's efforts within the war were not something Alice ignored. The information had been useful and brought about several arrests, even if the convictions had fallen through at the final hurdles. However, undercover work of this nature did not sit well with her. The risks to Marlene were high and the payoff not always fruitful. While Rabastan was rotting away in Azkaban, many Death Eaters had escaped justice and it had Alice questioning the benefits of such things. Alice had not been Head Auror during Marlene's time undercover in the war, but she was aware of the details on record now she held the position. Details that she was not wholly happy with.
Still, it was something they had to consider with the new wave of Dark magic spreading from a new breed of heretics. However, one thing she would not abide was this going off the books--losing any sense of strategy to grab bread crumbs of information. The journal conversation between the two had not been appreciated, regardless of her past with Death Eaters. Igor was a different case entirely--immune from prosecution. With that in mind, Alice had called for a meeting.
She was busying herself with paperwork as the knock came to the door. "Come in," she said, finally placing her quill to the desk as she looked to Marlene. It was not the first conversation they had ever had regarding further undercover work, but Alice had never seen any necessity to it at the time. Igor posed an interesting conundrum on many levels, of course, and Alice was willing to hear her out regarding her proposition.
"Reaching out to Igor before we had this discussion was not appropriate," she began.
