Leonardo sat, and tried not to look as shocked as he felt. Was it really going to be this easy? Was his father just going to accept him and that would be the end of it? In all his preparation for this meeting, this particular scenario hadn't really crossed his mind. He'd been too scared to hope for anything.
"That would be wonderful," Leonardo said, unable to help the smile that bloomed across his face. His father wanted him to meet his legitimate family. His father wanted him. And then his father asked about his Uncle. Leonardo wasn't sure what to say. The two men were friends, weren't they? Even if his uncle had kept him a secret from his father, they were friends.
He decided it would be best to err on the side of caution. "My uncle has seen to my every comfort, Sir. He made sure I got the best tutors and clothes, and made sure I didn't go hungry." Nothing about the punishments his uncle liked to give out whenever Leonardo did anything he deemed inappropriate.
