The good (the only good) news was that his son was sorted in Slytherin. The bad news (and most important) news was the Narcissa was going to kill him after painful torture. He could have explained a woman, but a child! A child older than Draco who carried the Malfoy name according to the hat. Bloody hell, he was dead.
The same thought ran through his head over and over until he reached the castle. One of the good things about being on the board was that he could just come in without any interference. He skipped any notice to Dumbledore and went straight for the dungeon and Severus' rooms, hoping that he wasn't in his office, because this was not a discussion to have in a public setting.
