Sirius was restless. This wasn't in and of itself a surprise, he could hardly stay still in the best of times. But today even the prospect of adding barstools and picking risque pictures for the Club held no aopeal. Something was wrong. Well, to be honest, something had been wrong for a while. Ever since Reg came back.
Why should I even care? He's the one who turned his back on me. He's the one who played dead and didn't even have yhe decency to send a sneaky owl. Why should I waste any of my time worrying about him?
But Sirius did worry. A lot. He couldn't seem to keep his mind off the stupid kid. So after days of brooding and pretending he didn't give a shit Sirius finally annoyed himself enough to get off his ass and do something. He didn't stop to think of a plan, or even what he was going to say when he got there, that had never been his style. He just turned on the spot and disappareated to Grimauld Place.
He hesitated on the doorstep, but knocked before he had time to talk himself out of it.
He tried to smile as Kretcher opened the door, but he couldn't quite manage it. He had nevet liked that creepy house elf.
"I'm here to see Reg. He home?"
He followed the elf into the dingy hallway, noting that Regulus had changed the door.
Green. Of course.
"What can I do for you?"
Sirius froze as he looked up at his brother, trying to find the little kid he'd loved so fiercely in this strange man . If he squinted he almost could...
"I don't need anything from you," he said, awkwardness making him sound harsher than he meant to. "I just, I dunno, figured I should check in. See if the doxies ate you or something. Wouldn't want you to die. Again."
