"Right, something like that," he said with an amused smile, because he understood evasion when he heard it. It was something that his mother had practice with Sirius when he'd start to rebel against the rules. Her tolerance hadn't lasted as long as Lupin's.
He tilted his head, not hiding that he was studying the other man. "At first I wasn't sure if I'd read wrong and you were straight, but last night- Well you didn't punch me or looked repulsed. So what is it? Are you still mentally debating because of Sirius? I thought we'd solved that or you wouldn't be here. What else is there? You're the brave Gryffindor. You might as well tell me and I can explain why it's nonsense and you can finally relax, because you look like you expect me to hex you or rape you. Neither is something I plan to do."
Regulus smiled. "I'm risking a lot, and I usually insist on oaths to prevent people from saying anything, but I'm counting that you're too smart to let this one secret out, because you don't want to deal with Sirius. You also have started a job at Hogwarts. Only Dumbledore can get away with being a poof and even then only when he's not with anyone and it's not plainly stated."
