"We'll see." He grinned and raised his brow at her admittance. "I'll tell you something, me too. I'm trying to find my own excuse." Remus paused and frowned. "Unfortunately, nothing comes up."
Not yet, at least.
He shouldn't have been surprised when she took charge and led him along. He didn't complain, either. Remus was killing time, trying to hold back the inevitable and wondering if they could just avoid the ball entirely and say they were locked in the shop or something.
The window was...something else. This couldn't be the place, could it? Remus' face said it all. "People...shop here?" He had no fashion sense, but even Lupin knew this wasn't normal. Was it? He hoped it wasn't.
"I think I prefer death." Half-jokingly, he let out a sigh and glanced at her. "I'll go first." He wouldn't make her do such a thing. At least it would prevent any would-be-sales ladies from tackling a new female customer, right? He opened the door and the bell by the door alerted the woman in the back to new customers. She was dressed in a way Remus had never seen- like someone out of a gawdy Muggle fashion magazine. Only with more frills. And more pink.
"Hello, hello! Let me guess, you're looking for something for the ball? We have been so busy lately, but you are in luck. Our last customer just left. Come in, come in!"
Remus' eyes went a bit wider and he took a half-step back toward the door.
