Oh Merlin! OH MERLIN! This is truly living the dream, isn't it? For lifetimes, Demelza dreamed of being captain, for years she was determined to impress Oliver Wood, and then Harry Potter into allowing her onto the starting team, and for years they ignored her talent. Until last year when it turned out that they were "desperate" and realized that Demelza really wasn't as bad as Wood pinned her to be so many years back. This is the big break she had been waiting for, her big chance to prove her worth not only as a quidditch chaser but also as captain! She was going to show everyone that she could be twice the captain that Harry Potter was and lifetimes better than Oliver Wood. This was just one step closer to her dreams of going pro, and she wasn't about to waste it. Demelza knew that she was going to be a tough captain, especially since her expectations were high. She was a sore loser to begin with, and on top of that she was captain? She was planning on taking this team to the top and any one who couldn't keep up was going to be left behind.
Her determination became obvious when she only stopped by the Gryffindor table during lunch to remind everyone about try outs after lunch. With her own Firebolt in hand, Demelza didn't bother to eat herself, and immediately left the Great Hall to head for the pitch. Demelza was determined to make this one of the best teams Hogwarts had ever seen, even if Potter as his "amazing seeking skills" were available. There had to be good - if not better - Seekers out there! A Keeper wouldn't be hard to find, nor should beaters. It was the Seeker that was going to give her the most trouble, and she knew it. With game plans and warm ups stuffed in her mind, she entered the broom shed to grab any spare brooms.
Excitement was making her heart beat faster, as she took the pile of worn in brooms and placed them in the middle of the pitch. Madam Hooch made sure to leave all the practice quidditch supplies out for the try outs, which Demelza was grateful for, considering she knew she couldn't carry all those things out by herself. Picking up her broom, she was trying to decide if she should take a few practice laps around the pitch first, or wait for others to arrive.
"Sod it." Mounting her broom, she rocketed into the air, allowing the wind to whip auburn curls into her face and make her eyes water. There was a certain thrill that came with flying, Demelza couldn't describe it, but it usually made her breathless. Piercing hazel eyes made sure to keep a look out for people entering the pitch, and from that height she could see all the way back to the castle.
