You have a pretty big family. I just have Elena.

Well... [he frowned as he tried to remember what he'd learned about the town's history] Mystic Falls was officially founded in 1860 by the Salvatores, Fells, Lockwoods, Gilberts, Bennets, and several other families. The original settlers formed the Founder's Council which, like those families, still exists today. Four years later, the town found itself in the middle of the Civil War on the Confederate's side. Mystic Falls was defended by a small army of less than 3,000 men against a much bigger one. Needless to say they were pushed back. The battle resulted in 346 death plus 27 civilian deaths that happened as a result of enemy soldiers setting fire to the old Church.

We've got four parents, too. It's...unconventional, I guess, but it works for us. [She shrugged again, then paid close attention to the history. Her eyes lit up a little at mention of the Church fire - that was definitely the perfect breeding ground for ghosts. Freya secretly hoped that the map would take them there.]

Let me guess. There's tons of local legends about ghosts and weird things happening thanks to all that.

[He slips his backpack off and pulls out the paper handing it over] They're calling it a wild animal attack but all of the victims have been completely drained of blood. I'm actually not too sure. Maybe it's a vampire. [He was joking, of course, even if he didn't think he should be making light of the subject. Someone he cared about had wound up being among the victims. She didn't die but she did spend time in the hospital]

Anyway, if you're still interested in the treasure hunt... your map takes you out of town a little and past the old church.

Yeah right. [She good-naturedly rolled her eyes, though that was exactly what Freya suspected it was. She was just supposed to scout until her mom and dad showed up in a couple days, and she had to remember to call them in a few hours to report in.]

Absolutely still interested. Halloween stories aren't gonna scare me off. [Grinning lightly, she passes the paper back over.] Do you think we could check that out while we're there?
