He hadn't expected the show of affection, and he tensed involuntarily. He breathed through it and relaxed, found a smile for her. He made a sound in his throat as she kissed him, and his hand moved up to the back of her neck, fingers drifting along the muscle there.
"Happy birthday, Faith." He knew birthdays hadn't been anything special for her, just another day. For the most part, it was the same for him. He had always made a big deal out of Sam's birthday when they were kids, and Sam had tried to do the same for him, but Dad was never around and the days passed like any other, nothing special. Dean wanted Faith to have at least one good birthday, one to remember and know someone cared.
