Title: Moonlit Sighting
Author: Charlanka
Beta(s): Paul, Willow, Aiden, and Eddie. Thanks a lot!
Rating: FRT
Date(s): 1/30-2/8/08
Word Count: 593
Pairing: John Sheppard/OMWC Vakair (OMWC means Original Male Wraith Character, yes you read that right.)
Summary: John sees Vakair in a new light literally for the first time and definitely not the last.
Warning: Wraith slash people! Not for the easy squickable and no there will not be any kinky life sucking hand stuff or any detrimental bullshit. This will be interracial love to the extreme, like black/white couples but with different species instead of races. No evilness either. Vakair is not like other Wraith because he's special that way. ;D
Prompt: 33 Moonlight of my 50episodes prompt table.
Author Notes: Set during the third season, but not spoiler worthy since this doesn't have a specific timeline until I get the others in order.
Disclaimer: Don't own, don't sue, ain't got the money to pay you.
John watched as Vakair prowled around the perimeter of their encampment. Elizabeth had fought tooth and nail to have him added 'officially' as a member of SGA team number one. They were forever bonded in the eyes of the Wraith now, and if Vakair had his way they would be legally married in American terms. Vakair and his sires had been beyond appalled that there were any laws against same sex couples, let alone discard their own soldiers for natural feelings. Either they had the laws abolished or Varanth would deem the peace negotiations null and void and take the risk of continued mass culling. Things have been tense between them since their ceremony. Vakair had expected them to...mate in his own words immediately after, and was again upset by the way John repressed himself. He didn't persist as John thought he would, but Vakair was a bag full of surprises since the day they met. John considered himself a man who didn't discriminate when it came to matters of the heart before he entered the Military. Gender had never mattered to him, but when he met Vakair his whole world had been turned upside down. Here was this surprising male Wraith that wasn't anything like the other members of his species. One word that use to come to mind for every Wraith he'd come across or thought about was aggressive. He was still trying to determine who were more aggressive, the male Wraiths or the female ones, but so far the females were winning in his book.
Yet Vakair wasn't anything like that. He was confident in public, but not arrogant. When they were alone he became very shy and physical. He liked to touch John whenever he would let him. Which after they first got together was never. John would flinch too much anytime Vakair's hands came close to him.
All of a sudden pure white light lit up their camp, and John turned his head in time to see Vakair raise his head to look in wonder at the full Moon. His rarely unbound hair flowed back and shone under the moonlight. Vakair wore Japanese oriental clothes, or so Rodney and Radek kept saying. He had names for the different types he owned, and the one he was wearing now he called his prime fighting outfit. It consisted of skin tight silk pants cut above the knee, and a tunic that covered his front and back, but was open on the sides. The silver Japanese letters that adorned it sparkled as the moon reflected off of them. Right at that moment John could call him beautiful and not care about anyone who heard him say it. Vakair met his eyes with his slitted yellow ones then, sensing what he was feeling through their bond. He graced his human mate with a tentatively hopeful close-mouthed smile that he'd been mastering to make the Atlantis Expedition humans feel more at ease than baring the teeth that some of his people often used in cannibalism. John gifted him with a small smile in return for his effort, and turned back to Rodney babbling away about something or other. He was a natural born outdoors man, and it seemed to be the same way for Vakair after growing up on a human planet. Maybe when they got back to Atlantis and John had some off time they could spend it outside talking some more.
He just wasn't really sure if he wanted to acknowledge that they had more in common than he'd originally thought.
