Prompt #48 Family
Author's Note: This is for my 50episodes challenge for Lucas. Part of a larger story, which will be an AU.
Lucas rubbed his eyes and groaned when he heard the loud rapping at his door. "I'm up," he called out as he kicked the blankets off.
"See that you are, young man," a female voice said from the other side of the door. "You don't want to be late for your first day of school."
"Yes, Mom." Lucas looked up at the ceiling and sighed. He was a little nervous about starting seven weeks into the school year, but at least Tommy was in the same position. There would be someone there he knew.
Knowing if he didn't get his butt moving, his mom would be in here and it wouldn't be pretty, he got up and stumbled to the bathroom he shared with Tommy. "Hey," he grumbled as he heard a bottle drop and a soft curse from behind the shower curtain, "save me some hot water. I don't want a repeat of yesterday." A little shiver ran through him as he remembered how cold the water suddenly got.
"Yeah, yeah," came the reply. "Think we'll have the same classes?"
"I don't know," Lucas said with a yawn as he pulled down his boxers and aimed for the toilet bowl. "I am smarter than you are."
Tommy snorted. "Yeah, right. Keep dreaming, Luc. We all know I'm the brilliant one and you're the dunce."
"Uh-huh. Who got more As on their report card last year?" There was silence for a couple of moments. "I thought so," he said, a smug grin on his face as he washed his hands.
"It's only because I wasn't trying that hard. Tina was far more interesting than geometry and English classes."
"Yeah, well, I wouldn't know. She's not exactly my type."
"There were cute guys there, too." The shower stopped and a slender, pale arm emerged from behind the curtain, reaching for the towel on the nearby rack. "Not that I really know much about the hotness of guys, but I know what you tend to like."
"What I tend to like isn't guys our age."
"I know. But you're jail bait," Tommy said, pushing the curtain back and stepping out. He grabbed a smaller towel off the linen shelf and rubbed dry his red hair.
"I'll have you know I am above the age of consent," Lucas said, turning the shower on and stripping off his T-shirt.
"By a whole week, and you know Dad'll crucify any man who even thinks about popping your cherry before you turn seventeen. And then he'll come after you." Tommy hung the small towel on the rack and headed toward the door that led to his room.
"You don't have to remind me. It's not like I would, but I can dream, can't I?" Lucas said, dropping his boxers and picking them up, tossing them into the hamper.
"Just as long as you don't do it!" Tommy said with a chuckle.
Lucas rolled his eyes and shook his head, but he smiled as he stepped into the shower and drew the curtain closed. He wouldn't trade his family for anything.
