Can I leave FAQ questions here?
What about science-fantasy* or space opera, or other fantasy subgenres besides 'high' and 'urban'?
* Things like Star Wars or Lost Universe (or Tenchi Muyo or Outlaw Star -- a lot more anime falls in this group than in SF), where there is a futuristic setting, but there are also things such as magic and/or psychic powers (and not just Sufficiently Advanced Technology).
Are fusions counted as AU? (In other words, if I wrote a 'Slayers cast in the world of Harry Potter', but in the sense that they were all born in Harry Potter's world, and so have different-but-similar pasts, like an AU, but using an existing world instead of one the writer comes up with, and not quite a crossover, because the world's canon characters may not even show up.)
