Hunter had barely settled in his own seat, when his smile faltered somewhat. He had hoped that he would have good news to share, but instead it was the same thing he had told her time and again.
"Close," he said, stretching the truth just slightly.
"I think the next week or so might bring some luck."
At first Hunter had looked for work that would engage his mind, but he had quickly learned that such a hope was quite lofty. At this point, he was more than willing to settle for manual labor.
