Sleep without nightmares was a wonderful, blissful thing for Lillah. So was not being afraid to speak her mind because the people around her wouldn't strike her for it. In fact, the just having people around her who actually cared about her was a beautiful thing. She was also pretty sure she was infatuated with one Michael Meru, and even the thought of him gave her tickles in her tummy.

But while she was beginning to see the world through new, free eyes, she was also noticing some not so beautiful things occurring with her master and savior. Ever since he rid the world of Blake, he had become distant. And not just to her, but to River and even his best friend Russell. There were times that Lillah swore he hadn't left the house, but she couldn't find him anywhere. And the latest thing that disturbed her was the locked bedroom door at night. Lillah only found out about it when she had found herself up in the middle of the night, more so out of habit than bad dreams, and had wanted to share her master's bed for the night, only to find that she couldn't open the door.

There was also the matter of the scruff on his face. In her weeks of living with him, she hadn't witnessed him let it get raggedy looking before. His eyes also looked tired and not as focused and sharp as they usually were. With a new found spine, and words to speak, Lillah wanted to talk to him about it all, ask him what was going on. Was he feeling some kind of guilt over what had happened? Oh no, Lillah would have to make that better, if that was the case. Ripper had saved her life, and who knows how many other people's lives? He was hero, not a villain.

But Lillah would wait until the most opportune moment to bring it up to him. At the moment, she had her nose in yet another book in the library, a place that she had taken the liberty to stock with some books she thought her and River would enjoy too. She was reading a romance novel, her red rimmed glassed on her face with her long hair pulled up haphazardly, and wearing a grey house robe over a long blue skirt, and white, long sleeved blouse. Although she had new confidence, Lillah still chose to cover up. Not to mention, it was becoming winter. A fire's embers still gave off some warmth, and the tea Lillah had brought in with her was just a few sips away from being gone, but Lillah couldn't bring herself to put down the book to restart the fire, or refill her drink.
