Re: Elijah and Ptarah
He was aware of the centers in some cultures where the slaves were trained, and service to an immortal was an honor. At first, he simply didn't understand why one would choose to be a slave. No matter that the older vampires had the gift of knowledge and wisdom, a unique gift that had been granted over all of those years. They also seemed to transcend time. Elijah had always assumed that there was a desire for immortality as well, to be a slave and then given the gift of eternal life.
"I think that the life of service is also feared, especially when faced with someone who can easily end that service. There are also a variety of masters." He left that word hanging in the air. He was sure that she had understood. Some were abusive, and others would never be satisfied.
He could see that look, one that he saw often enough. He was actually surprised when they didn't look stunned at his age. "I've never understood why so many of the older ones keep themselves in their mansions and let others come to them. I enjoy getting out, still seeing the world, even if I have already seen it at one time or another. My family is much the same. Who are you serving now?"
