Carrick's eyes moved over Hermes as he continued to fix his gaze on the menu. "I'm told the mussels are excellent, as is the stuffed quail. Not that I would know, in either case."
He nodded as Hermes described the apartment. "Just let me know if there's anything you need. Don't worry about the cost."
Carrick blinked slowly. Was Hermes asking permission to sleep with his security detail, or was this just a waspish little sting in an attempt to remind the vampire of what he had lost, perhaps forever?
He had been pushed far enough. Hermes had not addressed him as his Master since he had sat down, and now he seemed to be openly trying to bring another man into his bedroom.
"You still belong to me, Hermes," he said quietly. "I still expect the proper attitude from you. Don't forget that."
