Jason Weiss/Shion Kitagawa
This hadn’t really been Jason’s plan for his Sunday, but with the buzz going around town, it was clear that this was the place to be today if you wanted to rub elbows with the elite of the island. And there were a lot of elbows to rub, he thought as he mingled around the floor of the Auction room, smiling and giving nods or raising his glass in a greeting to this person or that. He had no idea who any of these people were, nor did they know him but that wasn’t the point. The point was to be seen and obviously everyone here had to be somebody; somebody important, or powerful, or rich.
Rich was the important part for him. He wanted to see the players of this town, first and foremost. He wanted to see the movers and shakers and who had the cash to make things happen. Boy, was there a lot of them though and they all wreaked of money.
Well, money and supernatural power and clout but he wasn’t here to focus on that, he was here to learn faces and names as fast as possible so he could get his own ball rolling and start getting some of that cash for himself. He’d only been there for a day or two at most, but he’d set himself up pretty nicely in a modern little beach house not too far away that had been up for sale..Until he tactfully removed the sale sign and let himself through the front door as if he’d bought it. No one was going to wonder about that as he’d had a key for. Well, a locksmith’s key and a normal key do look awfully similar from far away after all and it’s all about confidence really. People will believe anything as long as you act like you’re not doing anything you shouldn’t.
Just like now. He was here because he was young and rich and was suppose to be here. There was no reason to think he shouldn’t be at all with his slicked back hair and two piece black suit with tie and shiny shoes. Heck, Jason even had on gold cufflinks! No, he fit in seamlessly and no one thought otherwise as he crossed the floor to find a spot for the auction which he didn’t have any real interest in and wasn’t going to participate honestly. Maybe a couple of low bids on merchandise that was clearly popular.
He raised his glass of champagne to his mouth as sipt slowly to suppress a nervous chuckle once as he relocated after he realized that the attractive older brunette scrutinizing the room was a cop. It took him a moment at first but when he saw that she too was more interested in the who’s who on the floor than those people being lead onto the stage and as the lights dimmed, he made sure to put himself out of her line of sight as best he could.
Soon enough the auction was going in full swing and Jason was listening to the bids fly over this slave or that. Dear God did these people have a lot of money and they clearly didn’t care about it or know what to do with it. Thankfully, he was here just in time to help them with that little problem, and he couldn’t help but grin a bit to himself as he did a little quick math to estimate at just how much he could get pocketed away before anyone caught on and it was time to get out of town and off the island.
He was feeling pretty darn smug indeed when the next “item” for bid was led up onto the stage spot light for all to see as Jason dropped the long stem glass in shock and looked up there transfixed as his heart skipped a beat and that oh so familiar sense of deja vu washed over him. “You..” was all he said softly to himself, his ears just barely caught the Auctioneer’s shpeal.
