Kate Beckett: Open
Auction Day was never one of Kate Beckett's favorite times. Seeing people sold off like property didn't sit right with her in the slightest bit, but it was a very depressing reality of life that she'd come to accept. If she was going to be in the position to protect as many citizens as she could, she had to deal with the fact that this lottery crap happened and was going to keep happening for the foreseeable future. That didn't mean, however, that she had to be happy about it. At least being present meant that she could keep the slaves as safe as possible until they left with their new masters. It was a sobering thought some of them would be subjected to legal, routine torture.
Beckett folded her arms over her chest as she observed the people coming and going with an exceptionally keen eye. As much as she hated this part of the job, she often volunteered for the big auctions for the very purpose of personally seeing to the slaves' safety and to hopefully let any Supernaturals with questionable intent know that she had her eyes on them. Most of them wouldn't take her at all seriously, but she had a pretty favorable record as a detective to speak for her. They could act superior all they wanted, but she clearly wasn't taking any bullshit from anyone.
