Damon knew Elena when he saw her. She had promised him purple and there she was. He didn't lower the menu. Instead, he waited until she looked away before ending up right behind her. "I believe you are looking for me," he said, low enough to keep the conversation between them. "You weren't joking about the purple." Damon was in his usual array of black with his jeans and jacket. Underneath, he wore a blue shirt that made his eyes stand out even more. His hair was nearly black, making his skin look just a bit paler.
"Now I know if I would have met you in Mystic Falls, I would have remembered you," he told her, meaning it. She bore a stunning resemblance to Katherine, and that would have drawn his eyes instantly, but she would have kept his interest anyway. She had also told him that she had some freedom in her life as a slave, which he wasn't sure he would have granted if he had purchased her.
"Do you see something you like?" he asked, referring to the menu, but not removing his eyes from hers.
