Re: Gardens - Alice
"It's not... It's not anything weird of some of kind of bizarre Slayer conspiracy or something," Alice insisted quickly once she was satisfied that they were far enough away from prying eyes. Or ears for that matter. She was already afraid enough that he'd assume she had been sent into slavery on some kind of mission to tear apart the infrastructure from the inside. It did sound like something her old Watcher would have devised given enough time and planning.
"Rebekah told me I should be honest with you, and it's really hard not to be at this point," she went on, not looking right at him as they walked. He was so kind to invite her family to such big fancy events. It would've been an extremely generous gesture. No, it was an extremely generous gesture considering she had deliberately let him believe they were still alive. "You've been pretty up front with me about everything that you've been dealing with, so fair's fair, right?" The young Slayer looked up at her Master, mouth agape for a minute or so as she tried to actually say the words.
"My parents. My twin sister. They're dead," Alice finally said, her voice quiet as she tasted words on her lips that she hadn't really uttered aloud often. There were tears in hey eyes, but they were also far away, refusing to spill but contributing to a sort of vacant sadness.
