"This place will always be home to me, and the fact it isn't currently in my name doesn't...it doesn't matter. But I appreciate everything you've done to help take care of it, Vlad."
He went silent again, waiting, wondering what else he could say. Part of him wished he'd never left, but another part... Going away to the island had changed him for the better, he'd like to think. And he'd met Claudia and Vlad, had more heartbreak--was it good for him?
