The past week had been much better to Lillah than her time spent back at the auction house. She had her own room, with which she hesitated to make her own even though somewhere inside she knew this might be her last home. So she still mainly lived out of her bags, only hanging up the items that were in the hanging bag into the closet. It didn't take her long to become acquainted with Meru's kitchen, nor for her to realize just how easy it was for him to forget to eat when he was working in his lab. With it being the week of Christmas, school was out and he wasn't teaching. But he was in his lab a lot. Lillah learned quickly where to look for him, and where to bring him food when the time came.
She had worked the store, doing her best to figure what all was there, but luckily Meru had holiday hours, so during the closed time Lillah had a chance to really look around and know what his store had to offer so she could better help its patrons. She did her best to be gracious and happy around Meru, but when she was alone in her room, at night, she found herself a bit depressed. Wondering, and over analyzing why Giles had left, caused Lillah to cry herself to sleep her first few nights. But it was Christmas eve, and although the place was pretty sparse of anything relating to the holiday, Lillah was determined to make a wonderful dinner and be thankful for her new home with her new master, reminding herself of her feelings for Meru as well. In the back of her mind, she hoped he wouldn't leave her too.
Smiling satisfactorily at her dinner- roast beef, vegetables, mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce, homemade gravy, and buttery bread rolls -Lillah giggled in pride as she started making a plate to take to Meru. Reaching up to grab a bread plate from the cabinet, she heard a popping noise and froze. She wasn't sure what it was, but after listening for a second, she heard nothing and proceeded to grab a hold of a plate. But a series of popping noise shouted off, and Lillah jumped with a screech, dropping the plate on the tile with crash.
"Oh no!" If she had gotten to down to the floor any faster, her knees would have been bruised. Shuttering as more popping was heard, Lillah shakily reached for the broken pieces of the plate. She didn't know what was going on, just that the noises were startling and sporadic, but that didn't mean she could leave the mess. A drop of something wet hit her hand as she reached across the floor. She was crying and not realizing it. All she was trying to do was pick up the broken pieces while attempting to ignore the unsettling noises.
