Time seemed to slow as Hunter watched his twin fall from her mount, not that it allowed him to move any faster. Even supernatural reflexes only allowed him to be at her side so quickly. The horses seemed just as in tune as their riders, and Hunter's reared up just as Fawn's had. He pulled at the reins tightly, his thighs tightening around the beast, keeping his astride, until they were still again.
"Fawn!" he cried out, sliding down and running to her. He had dropped the reins entirely, but the horses were good enough to stay put, now that the coyote had gone. Fawn's eyes were open and she wasn't bleeding, the snowing having made a decently soft bed, but she looked shocked. Hunter didn't dare to move her, not without knowing she was fully aware of her surroundings.
