Elijah dismissed his slave earlier in the day to attend to some of the family businesses. It was mostly a review of the end of the year statements from his holdings. Those were things that made him tired quickly, the way such dry information tended to do. He tossed the papers aside and went to the refrigerator, taking out a blood bag. He ripped into it, draining it in a few minutes. It was enough to keep him nourished for the time being. He was aware that he wanted a bit more, but he could be easily distracted away from that familiar pang of hunger. At least it meant that life had returned to normal, and his brother was no long er fortifying the manor, not that it was ever needed.
He didn't hear anyone around. They were out or busy. He looked over the news sitting on the counter, but it failed to really capture his interest. Cleaning his hands, and adjusting his tie, he decided to go find his new slave, who had probably wandered to the greenhouse. he had given her the key when they arrived at the house. It certainly wouldn't hurt to have someone looking after it. His only experience with the green stuff was all financial, not botanical. When he was perfectly put together, he stepped outside.
He found the dark haired girl just as he had suspected. When he had brought her home, he was human again. Honestly, that adjustment had been harder than he had thought after being a vampire for as long as he had. After they turned back, his hunger had peaked, again, not a good time for getting to know anyone. Now that he felt that control return, he wanted to explore. He stepped into the warm house, looking down the rows of plants for the girl. He had a new delivery of plants to keep in the greenhouse, an offering of sorts to show that their family could be very civil in spite of some of their reputations. "Hello there," he said, standing at the end of a far row. "I figured you would be out here."
