With the chaos of his brief time held prisoner by the mortal coil behind him, Klaus was again confident as he walked the streets of Hiddekel once more. If he were ever to find the wretch responsible for such an attack, though it perhaps hadn't been so focused on his family as he'd originally thought, he would take some pleasure in repaying them for the kindness. Resources were being poured into finding that person as it were, and thus the elder vampire could leave that where it rest for the time being. There were more immediately pressing matters at hand, ones that he would hopefully possess the immediate power to solve.
Since revealing his vulnerability to Caroline some weeks ago, it had been Klaus' turn to avoid the her. He had thought himself cursed with a weakness that he had ended up forgetting during time spent with her. She had shown him things, small pleasures that he had forgotten in the thousands of years since he'd been turned, and he had revealed to her some of his insecurities. It had felt natural to do so, and, with his strength renewed, he cursed his moment of weakness. He loved her. That much he admitted fully to himself, but love made one vulnerable enough as it was. To reveal more of oneself in addition to this was to expose unneccessary weakness and give another person power of you.
Case and point Klaus' pannicked son, Bastien. His dear, little human, the one he was so in love with, was becoming avoidant, and the vampire was beside himself. Of all those he had sired over the years, Bastien had always been a good and loyal son. Whereas many had fled Klaus' good graces for some reason or another, Bastien remained. He was a friend and a trusted childe, words that could not be said of many that he had gifted with immortality. Arriving at the artist's home, he knocked on the door, courtesy he did not provide to all that he visited.
