Russ looked over his shoulder at Carrick's words and smiled softly. "I know you wouldn't. It's just so strange." The ointment was starting to work. Numbing the skin. He laid his head back down. "I feel so disconnected," he couldn't keep the frustration from his voice. "I don't know how to adequately explain it. I'm so used to the world being rich with scents and sounds that normal humans don't experience. And they're just gone. I'm sure you understand." The ointment was making the cuts feel better. He watched Carrick come back from the bathroom and hissed between his teeth when the cold washcloth touched his skin. After a moment though, the welts on his ass started feeling a bit better even under the soft washcloth that felt like sandpaper on his skin.
