Elijah had been at the house for ten minutes, waiting out of sight with Katherine. She had left the house to meet with him earlier, and they had spent some time together before arriving to meet Niklaus. He waited out the initial discussion, motioning for Katherine to keep quiet as well. Contests were won on timing, and this was no exception. He also told Katherine to stay behind him, and they would go back to the Makaelson's together.
When he heard Klaus' voice rising, he stepped in. "Rebekah, you do know how thoughtless it is to upset your brother. Jack is his sire and if Niklaus wants it done, your friend will suffer for his betrayal." His voice was very calm and collected. He kept his eyes on Niklaus, Jack, and Bekah. He even noticed some other girl in the room. "Little sister, I don't know why you feel the need to be so difficult."
He shifted a little bit, better to survey the people around him. "I feel sorry for Jack. He is a misguided one. He thinks he is far more important than he is. Really, he is expendable, and you were the one who chose to hurt him. Now what are we going to do here?"
