It occurs to me I haven’t made rules for the asylum yet, so here are the first two.
•1. Please do not use fan art as the basis for icons unless you drew it yourself.
That leaves official art from promotional materials, and the professionally published manga by Ikehara Shigeto, Iwamoto Yoshihiro, and Ariga Hitoshi. If it’s one of the latter, it’s a good idea to mention his name in the icon comments.
•2. Please do not link to a fan site anywhere but its top page.
It’s considered rude to enter anywhere but the “front door”. It’s bypassing any descriptions, warnings, or instructions the site may have. The owner may even suspect you’re up to no good, such as stealing artwork.
It should go without saying, DON’T steal the artwork or hotlink to it, but I’ll say it anyway. These rules come from my personal experience in RMX and YGO fandoms. In both cases, I’ve seen Japanese fan sites block access or shut down altogether, in part because of art theft. I don’t want this asylum to make anyone stop fannish activities.
The best way to treat fan sites is, Look but don’t touch.^_^
