Lighter mornings and marginally warmer weather made early morning workouts a little more pleasant. Today, his trainer had pushed him hard and even the gorgeous sunrise over the surrounding hills hadn’t made it easier, although Beau could admit that he felt energised and focussed as he strolled back into the kitchen. It had been just what he needed to distract himself from the jitters he’d been feeling the last few days.
Beau was in dire need of a shower, both to scrub off the sweat and soothe his fatigued muscles, but a delighted smile broke across his face as he found Nate in the kitchen. The joy of seeing Nate look so comfortable in his home had never waned, no matter how many times it occurred.
“Morning, gorgeous. Are you ready for today?” Beau felt as ready as he would ever be, a weekend visiting the O’Leary’s home probably well overdue by now. He’d never met anyone’s parents as their significant other before, something he’d studiously avoided in the past, and Nate had not two but four parents, just to complicate things further. Although they didn't always spend time together at Beau's house, Nate never minded that they ended up there more often than not. There was something incredibly peaceful about the home tucked away in nature. His was a busy city life most of the time, and so his boyfriend's home felt more like a refuge from the busy than his own London townhome did.
When he'd arrived this morning, however, his boyfriend was nowhere to be found. Assuming that Beau was still getting his morning workout in, Nate made himself at home, brewing a pot of coffee. He was leaning against the kitchen island with a steaming mug cradled between both hands when Beau came back inside, and he smiled across at him.
"Morning. Quite ready. More with every sip, even," he joked, lifting the mug to his lips for another sip. He'd have introduced Beau to everyone in his family on his birthday if Beau had been comfortable with it at the time. "How about you? Other than the need for a shower. You'll let me know if you need help washing your back, right?" he asked with an exaggerated waggle of his brows. Beau grinned. “Indeed.” Despite needing to head to the shower, he instead made a beeline for the coffee to fix himself a mug, bumping Nate playfully with his hip.
“I’m pretty sure I’m going to be asked so many questions about myself that I’ll be able to write an autobiography by the end of the weekend.” He put on an inquisitive expression, looking at Nate. “What exactly are my intentions towards you?” he joked. Lifting his mug, he took a small sip. “Maybe I should avoid answering that one.” Beau lifted his own brows, a few salacious ideas coming to mind. Mostly, though, his intentions towards Nate involved keeping him in his life for as long as he could.
“Remind me what I should call them again? First names? Or should I do the whole ‘Mr O’Leary’ thing to start?” Nate chuckled at that, enjoying the playful banter. "If Ferrol asks, you should definitely answer that way," he suggested. Ferrol was the most outwardly mischievous of the bunch and would undoubtedly get a kick out of any innuendo Beau let slip. Brian, not so much.
"First names, definitely. Brian might prefer Mr. O'Leary, but mum… Natalie, that is, won't allow it. Because they're a poly unit, it's easier to go with first names. She even insists when meeting my sisters' significant others," he said, eyes widening a touch as if it were such a surprise that Natalie was so progressive. "Kay is most likely to ask about your work. Brian will probably be curious about how you handle your finances and publicity, though Natalie will have forbidden him from asking, at least on the finances. But she and Ferrol are probably going to be most interested in how serious you are about a future with me."
He'd been utterly honest when his parents had asked him, but it wasn't as though he and Beau had planned things long-term. They were serious about one another, and exclusive, and the rest could come in time, he supposed. “First names, right.” Beau filed that away. He was ready for questions, but he also knew himself well enough that he would need a little time to recover after the trip. His introverted tendencies only stretched so far, but if Beau thought about it he had never felt drained like that in Nate’s presence, not in all the many years that he’d known him.
The edge of his lips twitched up into an almost shy smile and he took another small sip of coffee before setting the mug down. “I’ll just tell them what I told Scarlett. Serious as it gets.” With Nate, he had something he never thought he’d be able to have. “I’d kiss you, but I’m gross so I’m going to hop in the shower.” He could already feel the sweat cooling on his skin. “Try not to drink all the coffee.” "That's enough for me right now, so it will be enough for them, as well," he assured Beau. His parental unit could be overbearing in their own ways but they were predominantly, reliably supportive in his and his siblings' independence. As long as they were happy, healthy, and consensual, he knew his parents would support them.
Nate sighed dramatically, as if Beau were ridiculous about withholding kisses just because he was work-out sweaty. "I won't be able to drink all the coffee if I'm washing your back," he pointed out, perfectly willing to join Beau in the shower despite having already showered today. He'd have to be a fool to pass up the opportunity. Beau rolled his eyes good-naturedly, reaching for Nate’s hand. “Well,” he said wryly, “when you put it that way…” He planted a firm kiss on his partner, though keeping his body angled away so as to not mess up Nate’s pristine clothes. “If you want to join me, I won’t say no.” It was certainly something that would soothe any jitters. “I’m going to go get the water running.” Beau stole another kiss, reluctantly pulling himself away.
He gave Nate a wink, already stripping off his damp shirt as he made his way to the stairs. Moments like this made him feel as though every inch of him was radiating a smile. Beau wanted to draw that feeling close and hold onto it forever. Nate’s acceptance of everything he was, even sweaty and tired from a workout, felt rare and special, something to be savoured.
In the bathroom he caught a look at himself in the mirror, rubbing at his face where a dopey smile had settled. Nate chuckled into the kiss, though the sound faded away as he sank into the moment, brief though it was. "Far be it for me to refuse an offer like that," he quipped warmly. He let one hand curl around Beau's hip, squeezing lightly before he pulled away to head to the shower.
For a long moment, Nate simply stayed leant against the counter, watching appreciatively as his boyfriend tugged his shirt off, enjoying every inch of damp, toned skin exposed. Warmth shot straight to his groin, and he hummed appreciatively as he took another long pull of his coffee. As Beau disappeared up the stairs, Nate finally turned, setting his cup on the counter before following. He toed out of his shoes at the bottom of the stairs, carefully removing his socks and tucking them in the correct shoe to put back on later.
As he climbed the stairs, he removed one more article of clothing at a time, pausing to fold each piece neatly and levitating the pile to follow him. He was fully nude when he made it to the bathroom, his levitated stack of folded clothes settling themselves neatly on the counter. "Need a hand?" he asked as he stepped into the steaming shower behind Beau. Beau would have teased Nate if he’d seen the meticulous care he’d taken with his clothes, but thankfully he was only interested in the end result. He’d already rinsed off and felt a little more in the mood when Nate joined him. He leaned back against Nate’s firm chest. “I think you mentioned washing my back,” he agreed happily, luxuriating in the warm water and the body pressed against his.
He turned to face Nate, still smiling. This was the first time he’d be meeting a significant other’s parents and he was grateful he got to experience that with Nate. Beau took his time kissing Nate now, hands coming up to cup his handsome face. Thoughts of getting clean were quickly slipping from his mind, more interesting ways of using the shower coming to light. As Beau leaned back against him, Nate's hands went around him, nimble fingers stroking over firm muscles and through the water sluicing over the shorter man. "I did, indeed. I don't have to stop there, though." His lips were near Beau's ear, and they gave his lobe a playful tug.
"Mmm, better yet, let's get a bit dirtier first," he suggested a moment later, one hand trailing lower to encourage Beau to rise to the occasion. His own member twitched in interest, lengthening against Beau's arse. He would never tire of wanting this man, he was certain of it. There wasn’t much encouragement needed, Beau’s workout having swept free the cobwebs leaving him very relaxed beneath the warm water. Something about the confined space of the shower felt powerful and erotic, especially pressed up against a tall attractive man. He could feel Nate’s arousal growing, spurring on his own.
He sighed under the hiss of the water, a smile curling at his lips. “Very good idea. Perfect, even.” His hips twitched under the stroking hand. They’d been together for months now and the touch of those firm fingers never grew old. By the time they turned the water off and dried off, Nate was sated and relaxed and more than ready to show off the man he loved to his family. Not that he'd told Beau he loved him yet. No, there was no reason to rush anything, neither with words nor actions.
Taking his stack of clothes into Beau's bedroom, he watched his lover get dressed even as he carefully pulled each article on himself. His movements were deliberate, methodical, and once they were both dressed, he moved in close, slipping an arm around Beau. "Shall I apparate us, or is there anything else you need first?" he asked, knowing that he could easily tumble back in bed and end up needing to reschedule this meeting, but also that he wanted this meeting to happen more than anything. It was a big step in their relationship. Beau adjusted his hair, wanting to look good for his first encounter with the O’Learys as a family unit. His appearance was finally his own again but he hadn’t made much in the way of alterations like bleaching his hair again or growing out his beard. There were a couple of auditions he might throw his hat into the ring for and he didn’t want to make any changes only to reverse them days later; it was best if he resembled his headshots for a while longer.
He turned in Nate’s arms, pressing a kiss to the side of his plush mouth. “I think I’m as ready as I’ll ever be,” he said, curling his arms around the other man. “If you’re ready to apparate, so am I.” It would all be fine in the end, he hoped, but Nate had distracted him just enough to dull any apprehension for a while. Today was a big deal in a lot of ways, but Nate continued to try to keep the pressure low about it all. He knew things were still rocky at best with Beau's family, and he wanted his boyfriend to know that his family would welcome him with open arms. And it wasn't as though they didn't understand the pressures of fame and conservative families and breaking ugly family legacies. He had every confidence that by the end of this trip, Beau would feel relaxed about his family accepting him and their relationship.
"All right then, clear your mind," he warned Beau softly before focusing his own magic and getting them to the family home in the south of France. Inter-continental apparation wasn't the easiest, but he'd had plenty of practice and was quite familiar with the destination. Opening his eyes, he smiled at Beau before leaning in for a lingering kiss. "Come on, then. Let's find them," he said lightly, curling his fingers around Beau's before leading him toward the house and what felt like the start of the rest of their lives together. Though he planned to keep that last thought to himself.
