Although her head tilted against his hand, her eyes slipping closed, her body tensed at his words, her mind flashing back to the few times she'd not been able to avoid going to the hospital during Desmond's reign of terror in her life. Her heart raced, her breath catching in her throat and refusing to make it to her lungs. Her head started pounding from the lack of oxygen, but she couldn't seem to make her body work properly through the panic attack.
"No!" she croaked out as fiercely as she could in that moment, forcing her eyes open to look at him. "No hospitals. I can't... I can't be a victim. Not again, Casper." He didn't know. She knew that on some level, that he didn't know about her ex-husband. It had been a relief when she'd realized it, but in that moment, she wished he knew, that she didn't have to imply or tell him outright for him to understand her anxiety.
