I'll give you two. Wizard - The Philosophy of the Mundane: Why Muggles Prefer Not To Know by Professor Mordicus Egg Muggle - The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy
Alex M. sent you a message!
Let me guess, you ~really enjoy philosophy and politics? I only read Clancy because my dad loved his books, but I've never read anything by Professor Mordicus Egg.

I'd say my favorite would have to be The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night by Mark Haddon, it's so interesting to see how someone else's mind works first hand. Close second would be Magical Thinking by Augusten Burroughs. It has my favorite quote, "I like flaws and feel more comfortable around people who have them. I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions" What's yours?

Omg how did you I haven't read either of those. I tend to go for fiction, romance and adventure, that sort of thing. My favorite magical would have to be Defender of the Night by Frncis South. And muggle, I absolutely love almost everything Charlie N. Holmberg has written.

If I'm honest, I haven't read any of yours either. We should do a book swap sometime, I promise I'm not some sort of monster that folds down the edges of pages.

Ugh typo, obvious the first one I said is by Francis South. She writes romantic thrillers, total nail-biters! And Charlie writes clean romance/fantasy. Her Paper Magician series has the most fascinating made-up magical system! I would be open to a book swap, but I don't actually have physical copies. Avid e-reader here. It's a lot cheaper easier.

I will have to add it to my list. it may help inspire me Should we ever bump into each other on purpose, I'll bring you a copy of my favorite.

I have not gotten into e-reading yet. Though, I really ought to. I worked at Witch Weekly long enough. What do you read on?

I read on my phone. One device for all the things, it's handy. You worked at Witch Weekly though?

The small fonts don't bother your eyes? I'll have to try it soon.

I did, I was their music reporter for years. I recently quit to write a biography about someone I think is right on the verge of blowing up.

You know you can adjust the font size easily, right? That's one of the perks of e-readers.

Ooh interesting. So nonfiction is your niche?

True but I feel like I would be scrolling forever. I may just be too old for technology.

Sort of. I have been writing some erotica lately, but that feels fairly creepy to be telling someone over a dating app.

Although she'd not had the best track record with men in the past, Alex rather thought that last messages was a glaring red flag, and she didn't hesitate to click into the settings and block him. There was a reason she'd not called or messaged him after he'd given her his number at the cat café, and he'd just reminded her of it.

I work with politicians every day, security purposes. It became a fixture of my studies outside of my history courses.

It interesting to think how quick someone can explain away the unbelievable when it's right in front of them.

Clancy writes about ambition and how far you're willing to go to get what you want.

I think I'd be terribly bored in a government job, but it sounds like it's something you really enjoy?

Oh, no doubt. People like explanations that fit their preconceived worldviews, and that's true with the no-maj and magical kind alike.

Clancy writes political thrillers. Ambition is great and all, but at the root of it, it's all entertainment. He knew his audience and played to it perfectly.

Did I offend you? Is there something wrong with entertainment? It not Orwell or Huxley, but dystopia has a way of feeling overwrought and I live too much within the system to be reminded that governing bodies still have a long way to go before. Utopia is a lofty goal I guess.

The job does drag from time to time. A few weeks ago I ended up taking some time at a duelist lodge in Blackpool.

What do you like to read?

Definitely not! Entertainment is key, I think. And Orwell is so pedantic and boring. Fascinating concepts but so tedious to read! I was more commenting on Clancy writing about ambition. I never really saw it that way, but rather that he wrote political thrillers as entertainment. I can appreciate writers who find their niche and run with it.

I love to read a wide range of things. Thrillers, mystery, romance, adventure, fantasy, all of it really. I'm not generally big on political novels just because, similar to you, it's too much a reminder of how far governments still have to go. I read to escape that sort of reality.

I can't remember the last time I read something to escape. Any recommendations for a boring political type?

Omg there are too many! For maj authors, Francis South is one of my favorites! She writes romantic thrillers, so it's got a little bit for everyone. If you're interested in no-maj fantasy at all, the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas is exquisitely done.
