RP: It's a Night for Burlesque

Ever since she had found out about Taboo and their Burlesque Roxanne had been dying go to Blackpool. Having covered her shift at the shop, she snuck in the alley between buildings and in a pop disappeared and reappeared a block away from the establishment. She wrapped her sweater tight around her against the wind as she walked down the street. Inside the door she checked her ID and took the door into the burlesque. Shedding her sweater she revealed a lace top paired with a pair of polkadot pants. A little subdued but fitting considering the atmosphere.

Leaning back in her chair she ordered a drink waiting for the show to start.

Since it was now December, Iris had made a few changes to her costume and choreography, switching her usual black outfits for red and bringing in some festive music. She'd also had far too much fun making some of the details for her costume, every sequin stitched by hand.

She often couldn't see much of the audience due to the lights, but part of her set tonight had her on the part of the stage that jutted out into the audience. That was when she spotted some familiar auburn curls. Now that she lived in one of the flats above McLaggen's shop, she had seen Roxanne at a distance recently, but hadn't had a chance to speak to her. Iris gave her a wink, fluttering her feather fan in a wave. Hopefully she might get a chance to say hello after her set.

	Roxanne blushed as she saw Iris wink. It seemed forever since she had seen her old housemate and now she was sitting in on one of her performances. She didn't complain, Iris was gorgeous as always and it was a pleasant distraction from the Christmas shoppers that Roxanne dealt with on a daily basis. She winked back, taking a sip of her cocktail. Iris loved performing and had only grown in confidence since she had first taken to the stage at Taboo. She was still buzzing after her set and, dressed in something far less revealing than her burlesque costume, Iris headed to the bar to mingle after watching a couple of other performers.

She wasn’t doing double duty today, the hostess stand capably staffed by one of her colleagues. That meant Iris was free to do whatever she wanted, including taking advantage of her club membership. Though she didn’t want to admit it, she kept hoping that she’d run into Penny; those nights were always fun. But then she saw Roxanne again.

"Hi, Roxy. Enjoy the show? I don’t think I’ve seen you here before."

	"It was gorgeous!" Roxy stood up. "Yeah, I'd been thinking about checking it out since the other week. The store's just been crazy with the holidays coming up. Something different, y'know?" "Oh, yeah, definitely." A night at Taboo wasn't your typical night out. "If I'd known you were coming, I'd have offered for you to get a tour or something." Iris was nothing if not a good hostess and if there was anything she could do that might persuade someone to buy a membership then she would try to oblige.

Iris nodded, the careful curls that she'd charmed her hair into for the show bouncing a little. "I am. I was only scheduled to dance tonight, so I'm officially off the clock. But I thought I'd hang around here for a bit."

"A tour?" Roxanne remarked. She tilted back against her chair picking up her drink. Her voice started small, "Would it be awful to ask for one now?" Roxanne's face reddened.

She'd come her to get her mind off work and it felt rude to ask Iris to continue to work when she was already done.

"You don't have to. I'd imagine you'd want some time relaxing." Roxanne raised her drink only to hear the hollow ting as the ice shifted in the empty glass.

	Iris grinned. "No. Of course not." She wouldn't mind at all. Honestly, showing people all the delights that Taboo had to offer was one of her favourite things about working here. She shook her head. "It's fine, really. It's not that taxing walking around," Iris joked. "Even in these shoes." She much preferred trainers, but always wore heels in the club. (Reply to this) (Parent)
