The words were out there, hanging in the air between them, and Miguel wished more than anything that they could be taken back. He didn't want another woman to be pregnant with his babe--he wanted his wife to be pregnant with his baby!
He believed her though. As much as he didn't want to, he believed her. She'd obviously not recognized him from his profession, and so he doubted she was some kind of gold digger, and he would definitely request a paternity test, but even so, he believed her. He was going to be a dad. He didn't have any words for her as she excused herself, though a moment after she left, he realized that he hadn't got her name.
His head sank to his hands, his elbows resting on the table as he tried to sort out his thoughts.
