"Okay," Katarina said. "I don't really know much about dance, but that doesn't sound like too many hard shoes on our nice, flat wooden floors," she said as she led Rose towards the door to the lift. "The stairs are back there, but the lift is easier," she said, gesturing towards the bottom of the rise tucked along the wall. Especially when there wasn't someone here who was familiar enough with her condition to help.
She opened the lift door and went in first, perching herself on the pull-down seat, holding onto the rail. It was a small lift, but big enough for a wheelchair user and an assistant or perhaps three people at a time. "We've been open for almost six months now, and the things beyond retail seem to have struck a chord with people," she said, happily explaining their shop. "So we've had classes for making things upstairs." As soon as Rose was in and the door closed she operated the lift, the two of them rising steadily to the floor above.
"We move the upstairs around to accommodate what's needed," she said, gesturing for Rose to open the door as the lift finished. At present the upstairs had several round, communal tables and chairs set up for the next gathering in the diary. There were posters on the walls, which were a mix of bare brick on two walls, with the other two plastered and painted white. At the front there were several large windows, bringing in a generous amount of light. As they moved out of the lift Katarina automatically went and perched on the nearest high chair, placed there specifically to help her save some energy.
"As you can see we have space and light, and all the tables and chairs can move out of the way, but I don't know what else you would want or need," she said, gesturing that Rose was welcome to look around. At least she was sure all of their floors were level and in good condition.
