A/N: I own nothing Supernatural.
Ellen wiped down the bar and her mind went back to a different time and place. Back when the Road House was new and her and her husband's dream come true.
"Just think, Ellie," Bill came behind her and put his arms around her extending belly. "A place to call our own."
"A home and a business," Ellen smiled back at him. "How do you think opening will go?"
"Busy and chaos," Bill laughed. "Just take your breaks when you need them. The rest of us will make sure it's all covered."
It wasn't the best idea to have the Grand Opening and Ellen's due date around the same time. They hadn't planned it that way. Construction had taken longer than expected.
Ellen had wanted their living quarters to be situated just right. Far enough from the bar so that the baby could sleep, yet close enough for her first-time mom jitters. They had four bedrooms put in, Bill had always wanted a large family.
They only had drinks to offer in the beginning. Drinks and a refuge from the rest of the world that didn't understand who they were or what they did.
Then, Jo had come and grown up behind the bar. Little blonde pigtails following her folks wherever they went. Ellen had to smile at that memory--the picture of Jo's pigtails and Bill behind the bar that he was so proud of.
The part that hurt now--besides Bill being gone--nobody remembered her as or called her Ellie.
