Gantz
Opens up with a perfect loser highschool boy. He's not a loser because he daydreams in class and gets erections. He's a loser because despite life being up and down and occasionally crappy to him - he still finds the time to judge every damn body. Meanwhile he's doing nothing about the crap in his life. Anyway he dies because he feels guilted into helping a drunk off the traintracks.
And then, while I'm still wondering why am I supposed to want to follow this guy's life - there's instant naked girl and a yakuza attempted rape and Willow closed the tab. That's enough of that shite. Seriously how can I want to follow a group of men who are 80% aware they're already dead, but are too afraid of pain to save a semi-conscious girl (whose very arrival as an obvious suicide/attempted suicide proves that there's some saved from death's door by mere moments phenomena going on) because the rapist is yakuza.
Bunch of losers.
And I'm glad I didn't try to make myself watch it to the last minute in hopes of some redemption. Cause ugh. It was making my womb hurt.
At the rate I'm going, I'm going to end up dropping a whole bunch of supposedly 'classic' anime series.
PS: I'm also glad I prefer to watch subtitles. What little I heard of the American dub would no doubt have continued to be as offensive as hell on my ears.
