asylum plans... on LJ

Hi all, just a note that I've looked around my LJ flists and determined that there's a huge need for the moving community discussed in my last post. Too many scattered pieces of information. Obviously not going to open it before the Strike, but I have organization and format starting to come together on the blueprint.

The irony is that it will need to be an active community on LiveJournal. Many hands make light work, though, so if we have enough helpers, it should work itself out. Not just tech skills needed, either -- people who can track comment threads and organize information would be helpful too.

I might be able to help... I'm planning to delete my LJ before the strike happens, but if there's going to be a complimentary asylum on IJ then I could help out with tagging and such. *is a compulsive tagger*
I'm of course open to a sister asylum on InJ, however the purpose of an LJ comm would be to give people on LJ options, be it archiving, finding their friends, or moving completely. It would be a live community serving LJ in specific.

So I'm thinking we should be adding a dummy LJ account to the blueprint, yeah? *g*
Well of course, there was never any question about that. :)
I have my slow moments! A few "obvious" suggestions wouldn't be too bad. *g*
I would like to help. I know *some* tech stuff (mostly from the Mac side) and will do scut work, too. I have a permanent account on LJ and won't be deleting it, but I would really like to see IJ grow as a viable option.

Am friending you for the discussion, and also because you are a fellow SGA fan and Japanophile. Hope that's ok.
Cool. And yes, I've seen a lot of Mac questions out there.

I would really like to see IJ grow as a viable option.

I'm hoping to keep it as a tech support sort of service, so we're not favoring one over another. But yeah, I'm sure we'll have a good crop of InJ volunteers ^^

Yup, anyone can friend ... I just have all adult-content, that's my only restriction. Can't promise it'll be too entertaining, lol.
There's a mac community here that I'm sure wouldn't mind having your expertise in things mac-like, if you're interested...

I'm a journalism student from the UK, so if I can help in any way at all, I'd love to. It makes me incredibly sad that I may lose touch with some of my friends on LJ, but I figure the easier it is for people to migrate to places such as IJ, the more likely friends and social circles will eventually move over here too.

I'm in the process of shutting up shop at the moment (only 2000 posts left to migrate to IJ now!) and I have to say, it feels great to finally pack it all in and say enough is enough!
Well part of my goal is that we *don't* lose touch with our communities. I think a good portion of resistance is that this can only fray our communities, and if we shore up the technological means to do this, we'll be fine.

For instance, I could theoretically set up all my flists on Bloglines and read them all from one page. I can even read my LJ flist off iGoogle.
I run a community over there...and the people in the community don't want to leave LJ! I'm considering leaving the community to them and just not worrying about it anymore.
