over on that other journal ...

PEPSI MAX IS GONE ... hee.

ETA: And now, all users will be able to opt out of receiving virtual gifts!

One guess whether this has anything to do with the veritable tidal wave of Pepsi Max v-gift spam sent to the news, lj_biz, and various staff journals ...

Ah, I just came across the information about the neo-nazis. Odd.
Aha! I just updated my post with the latest:

If you saw the v-gift spam in official comms ... this is hee-larious. :D
Okay, that made me laugh. I actually kind of thought the LJ people were really kind of like little bunnies. They were trying to please everyone, and hey, send some caffeine to a studying person (um, even though it is August and no one is having finals now, in any hemisphere) was kind of earnest. And then came the onslaught of the pepsi max gifts and I laughed.

I still like the people that gave me virtual gifts on LJ, I have a permanent account there, and until recently I did not make position about the gift thing clear. I would rather they give the dollar to a charity or cause I support if they want to do something nice for me. I should likely post that again. Not that lots of people are gifting me with LJ gifts, that is not the case.

Okay, this still made me laugh. No more Pepsi Max!
Ray! Giggling! <3!

... Sorry. Had to.
Ray! He knows, right?

<3

(giggles with you)
*Does the happy dance of happy*

Hopefully this is true, and won't get backtracked on. *Tosses hat*
Oh how sad that one can no longer send commercial advertisements to one's friends...

I bought some vanilla rooibos tea from Healtheries the other day. It's the smooth vanilla flavour you love, with no artificial sweeteners!

XD

Wow, that was fast. I'm dying to know what happened...
Like an episode of "The Honeymooners", you have to wonder what wacky money-making scheme Ralph Kramdon, er, 6A will come up with next.

They must be so intensely frustrated that their plans to milk the site for big bucks from giant corporations seem to be getting thwarted at every turn.

Me? I say BWAHAHAHAHAHA.
That's great.
I could have cared less about the "free gifts". I think anyone in their right mind could figure out it was really free advertising. I just wanted a way to block it. Whenever you have a Freebie like that, there should be a way to refuse it. Or, it gets abused. Like the gifts to the LJ comms *snirt!*

*snicker*

"Sir, we're getting a lot of irate complaints from customers about Six Apart's business practices."
"Meh. It'll blow over."

"Sir, those complaints about our Six Apart ads are still coming in. This time it's about their support of pro-anorexia sites."
"Do anorexics drink Pepsi?"
"Um...I don't think so."
"Hmm. Troubling."

"Sir..."
"What is Six Apart supporting now that's got the plebs riled up?"
"Russian neo-nazi white power groups, sir."
"...are you shitting me?"
"Wouldn't dream of it, sir."
"Right. Kill the ads before we get any of that on us, will you?"

Probably went nothing at all like that, but it's still fun to imagine. ;)
