Who: Dana and Rogue
Where: The Projects
When: Just after this
What: Showing Rogue her old home
Warnings: Should be low?

Dana wasn't surprised that Rogue didn't like the idea of being in a prison. From her understanding of reading the network, a lot of people didn't like the idea of being in a prison. If it weren't for people like Spike or the other Slayers there, Dana would feel a lot more uncomfortable about being there. She would associate it a lot more with the hospital that she had been kept at for so many years. Thankfully, she had people there that she trusted, so that made it a lot easier for her to handle.

Dana wandered a lot on her own, so she was able to find the corner that Rogue had described to her. There hadn't been anything lately that she had to worry about running into, something that would steal her powers or try to kill her (other than the zombies, bad vampires, and other sorts that were generally out there), so she had little worry about running into anything nasty.

When she got close and saw someone standing at the corner, she gave a small wave, assuming that it was Rogue.

Waking up in a strange place wasn't such an unusual activity for Rogue, but it had been a while since it last happened, and for once no one had tried to kill her or force her to do something as soon as she'd opened her eyes. She had wandered for a bit before finding the network on her phone, and while that was strange too, she'd played it off and had decided to just see what kind of bees a little honey would draw in.

Now, she stood leaning against the side of a building. Green eyes were watchful from beneath stray strands of hair from her signature white streak, even as she idly played with card between her fingers. Her own powers had returned, but she still had stray bits of Remy's, and even as she thought of him, his voice in her head comforted her with a soft "I'm here, chére." After relaxing just a little, she gently pushed aside his voice for the time being and locked it away with the others deep in her mind, then looked up when she sensed, rather than saw, movement.

At the wave, Rogue slid the playing card back into a pocket of her jacket, tugged the cuffs of the long gloves she wore on her arms a little more securely above the elbows, then pushed off the building to head over towards the woman.

"Hey there," she said cautiously, her Southern drawl heavy with every word. "You Dana?"

Dana nodded. "That makes you Rogue then?" Everybody had been encouraging her to meet new people. Even the occasional voice in her head seemed to want her to seek out others. While she knew that she shouldn't really trust what the voices in her head wanted (they usually wanted her to do something violent), some were also Slayers of the past. She was still working on weeding out the good from the bad.

She looked up at the signs of the road corner. "We're not far from my old home. No one had claimed it last time I checked." She still checked it from time to time, simply because she thought of it as hers. Giving it to someone nice like Rogue was one thing (she assumed she was nice, anyway), but if someone had just tried to take it? That wouldn't have ended well. Dana was still territorial about what she considered hers.

"It's this way," she said, pointing down one of the roads. "There's no food there, so you'll have to get your own." Dana hadn't been very good at getting enough food for her sped up metabolism, but if Rogue didn't have that problem, she should be able to find enough food on her own, right?

"Yeah, that's me," she replied, idly sticking her hands into the back pocket of her tight jeans while studying the woman. Tilting her head as she stood still for a moment, she thought over the offer, then gave a shrug. It wasn't like she had any better offers right now, and the thought of walking into a prison was actually a little terrifying.

"Lead tha' way. Ah'll make do with food some time later, see what ah can find." She was fairly confident she could fend for herself, and if not? Well, she had a couple inner voices of her own that could give her tips if and when she wanted them.

"So do you live in two places, or what?"

Rogue looked like she could easily make due on her own with food, but Dana wanted to warn her, just in case. The house that Dana had used mainly just provided a roof over her head and somewhere to keep the things that she had collected, but now that she was letting Rogue use it, she could do whatever she wanted with it. Dana mostly just made sure that no nasties made use of the house now that she was at the prison.

She shook her head. "I live at the prison now, but I was making sure nothing bad took up residence in the house, like stray zombies," she explained. She really didn't mind Rogue having the house now. Better for her to use it than it stay empty, she supposed.

She started to walk down the right road leading toward the house. It really wasn't far from here.

"Well, ah appreciate ya letting me have it," Rogue told her as they walked. She kept just out of arm's reach because it was just how she naturally was, not wanting to get to close to someone and risk hurting them, despite the fact that she was only showing a tiny amount of skin aside from her face.

Cutting her eyes to the side to study the other girl, she continued on after a moment. "Ah gotta ask - why do you live in a prison? Ah just can't believe that that'd really be the safest place 'round these parts. Why not hole up in a ritzy hotel or somethin'?"

It actually didn't really occur to Dana that Rogue was keeping out of arm's reach on purpose. She wasn't naturally a person who reached out and touched people, anyway, unless it was during a fight. It was only a couple of people like Spike whom she felt more comfortable giving any sort of affection to. "It's no problem," she answered back.

"I think it was first picked because it's defensible," Dana asked. It had the large, solid walls around it, so that made sense to her. "I live there because there are others like me there. I'm a Slayer. We're born to protect people from things that would hurt them, like vampires that want to kill people and stuff. That's where all of them are. My friend Spike is there, too. The bars remind me a little of the hospital I was kept in for a while, but as long as I leave the doors open, it's not too bad."

It didn't occur to Dana that she shouldn't tell a stranger basically her life story. She just thought that it was part of the explanation. "A hotel would probably be nicer, but it would be harder to defend."

"Defensible. Sure." Rogue knew that not every prison was, even though it might look at it. The place where she'd been kept had seemed impenetrable, and yet. At any rate, she gave a nod, though she shot Dana a somewhat dubious look when she started to go on about Slayers and vampires and the like. "Never heard of anything like that, but ah thought vampires were fairytales or somethin'," she commented. Rogue was definitely trying to give the appearance that she didn't think it was crazy talk, but right now she wasn't so sure she believed it.

"Sorry about bein' in a hospital." That, at least, she could understand. "Yeah, you might be right. Still, no offense but ahm stayin' far away from anyplace that can be locked up that way."

Dana was more used to people thinking that she was crazy than most might think if they didn't know her. Babbling about vampires was certainly what helped keep her locked up in the hospital for years. "There's lots of things here that you thought were fairytales at home," she said, looking over at Rogue for a moment. "Unless you're good at defending yourself, I would suggest staying inside at night. Not everything that comes out at night is nice."

She shrugged when Rogue said that she was sorry that she had been in a hospital. "I'm not there anymore, so that's what matters," she said. "And I understand. I felt the same way for a long time, too." If there weren't Slayers and people like Spike there, Dana never would have went there, either. Maybe Rogue had been locked up, too?
