The sun went down and the moon came out. It held high in the sky. A howl, a bear growl, animal noises called through the night. It was normal to hear at the moon in high. The small stoat- next month would be ermine as the months got colder- crawled from beneath the pile of clothes. Fingers scratched at its head as it snuffled and nuzzled the hand of his lover. The four legged Fitz then scurried to the door and looked back expectantly. When the door opened the long animal tromped down the steps of the wagon and out into the grounds. Zion felt safe, knowing that he could roam safely so long as he stayed within the confines.

The Stoat scurried around the midway and the rides, occasionally finding something shiny. In these cases it carried it back to the steps of the wagon and ventured out again. Stray popcorn was nibbled on and a visit to the petting zoo to taunt the chickens before being shoed off by the dark haired boy who cared for them. Okay, Fitz knew better but chickens were nummy and they always got scared when they saw him. One of these days he’d get in and win himself a prize, in the meantime he’d have to settle for the bottle cap that had a bit of shine revealed as he licked the dirt off.

Scurrying around he picked up scraps from dinner as those still people fed him bits. A certain pocket found a broken chain tucked inside. Food bits were accompanied by head scratches and at least one chest nuzzle.
—
After dinner, more adventures including crawling up the Helter Skelter to slide down it- which was such a long slide for a small body. He may have done it a few more times than needed and anyone watching him would find it odd, but if they knew the exhilaration... they’d understand.

When the night came to and end the stoat returned to its wagon and was let in, it received some help getting its treasures pulled in- two dimes, a bottle cap, broken chain and a screw- and deposited in his box. As the box was opened, Fitz took a moment to pull out and admire, lick, rub his face up on an item. At some point Ben closes the box and put it away to an angry chittering as Fitz climbed up to the bed. He started to pull at the blanket when Ben placed a small one on the pillow for him. Fitz nuzzled his boyfriend as he moved and adjusted the blanket until it was a good nest and curled up to sleep.
