Who: Edward and Eva What: A Family Visit When: May 4th Where: Suburban New Orleans Rating: Mid Status: Complete
With the daylight show on the next day it meant that Eva and Edward had the day off and decided to leave Zion for a day or so, check up on Eva's young progeny and maybe find an enjoyable snack or two. That was how they ended up in the suburbs of New Orleans at a rather ordinary looking house that belonged to the fledgling vampire that they had come to call Andrea.
It turned out that the life of a Nightwalker might have been the woman's saving grace, while still human the drugs had done their damage but getting turned had brought back the beauty that was there beforehand. It was no doubt that Andrea could turn heads, and it seemed that there was no shortage of undesirable humans that she could rid the world of.
Andrea welcomed them with open arms and told them to make themselves at home, she'd go out and get them all something to eat. Upon inspecting the house Edward found that it had a big bathtub, a luxury that Zion sadly lacked- and it was outside of all places. It was already filled and warm. He returned to the living room and led Eva to the roof patio and showed her his find.
Eva was very impressed to see her child had found a home, and a nice one at that. She’d cleaned up so well and was gorgeous. She wondered if Edward had been as proud of her after he’d turned her. When Edward fetched her she followed, a bit curious about why they were going outside. When she showed him the giant tub, she reached a hand to touch the water curiously. It was warm. “Oh, Eddie.” She laughed, easily slipping out of her dress. Eva took care to undo her undergarments and place them neatly on a lounge chair, not wanting to ruin the stockings or frilly underwear.
Once undressed with her hair pinned up, she joined Edward in the warm water. “It’s so nice.” She said, gliding over to where he sat and moved onto his lap. A brief peck on his cheek was given as she leaned back against the wall. They sat in the corner of the hot tub, her legs lay over his lap.
Edward had been that proud of Eva, especially when she started embracing the new found freedom and showed her skill at hunting down prey. He was still proud of her and was blessed that she had decided to stay with him instead of going out on her own.
He smiled as Eva sat on his lap long enough for a quick peck before she moved to the side, his hands moved down to her legs that were now resting over his lap, massaging her shapely calf muscles. "I know you love to bathe and when I saw this, I knew we had to try it out. I'm not sure why it is outside though." Maybe modern humans weren't as fussed on nudity either.
“It’s quite large too. You could fit half a dozen people in here.” Or more if you were creative. She relaxed and smiled at her sire. He never failed to surprise her. “So. You need to finish telling me about the other night… your pet?” Edward had started his story, but they’d had interruptions and so much day to day had gotten in their way. “You said something big happened?”
"Oh yes!" Edward said, a smile across his lips. He hadn't gotten to tell Eva what had happened, only that they were having their usual reading lesson before other things got in the way and he couldn't tell the rest. Massaging Eva's ankles and feet he continued the story. "We were talking and out of nowhere she asked if I was hungry, and I know it's rude to decline an offer like that." Especially when unprompted. "And well, you know what they get like after a little bite."
Eva gasped, unintentionally splashing him slightly when she clapped. “Oh Eddie, I’m so happy for you. You got her to offer.” Of course she knew what humans were like after their bite. Sure, it had a scale, but it was definitely a turn on for them.
His smile widened as Eva clapped with joy for that little milestone that he had achieved. “The innocent ones have absolutely no kind of control, she was whimpering and clinging to me wanting more of those feelings.” Edward said, looking at Eva while he spoke and his hands continued their massaging. “She said she wanted to try something new, so I obliged but it seemed that my finger still wasn’t enough for her.” A small smirk, Eva would get the picture.
Her face softened. “Aww… did you make her a woman- or whatever she is?” Eva said, not being intentionally cruel, she didn’t object to Edwards' pet, but didn’t understand her obsession with dressing like a boy.
“I did. She was begging me to and how could I refuse?” He knew that Eva didn’t mean to be cruel, it wasn’t something that he had brought up in their conversations so far. “I’m glad that her tent is away from everyone else, I think she would’ve woken them all up, although it took another bite to get her to finish.” Another little smirk.
“That is…” Eva nudged him with her foot. “I will admit I am a little envious. Finding a pet so new to everything that you can train them like that.” She pushed off the wall and lifted her legs, tucking them under her so she sort of kneeled next to him. Her hand brushed some hair behind his ear as she gave him a kiss. “So, how does it feel?”
“It feels a bit strange, to have that kind of power over someone, but I can definitely see why you enjoy having yours.” When Eva moved closer to him Edward reached up and gave her shoulder as well as the back of her neck a gentle rub. “I will always come home to you though.”
“Of course you will.” She brushed her hand down his chest. “Because you’re my Eddie.” And they were really the only ones who truly understood each other. “But… when you say strange… you mean good, right? Doesn’t it just make you feel like your heart is beating again and… it’s like…” She made a noise of excitement. Eva was almost giddy just at the thought of that power.
Although Eva couldn’t find the words to describe it Edward knew exactly what she was talking about. “Definitely good.” He moved a bit in the bath, the arm around Eva pulling her with him until he was in a spot where there was a bit more room in front of where he was sitting and he could get Eva to rest against him while sitting in the gap between his legs. “There was a bit of a thrill when I realized that she couldn’t climax without my bite, she’d get close but she needed that bit more to get there. I wonder if she’s ever tried it by herself?” He mused out loud.
Eva curled against his chest, only the water between them. “I’m so happy for you.” She said, her head laying on his shoulder. “I always worried you were upset about my pets… That you didn’t understand why I love them so much.” Her voice was soft, vulnerable as her eyes looked down.
Reaching down he lifted Eva’s chin so he could look her in the eye. “Never upset, a bit curious maybe. But now I know why and as long as we come back to each other, I do not mind what you do with, or to, them at all.” He said truthfully. “Just don't bring anyone to the wagon, that’s our place.”
She smiled softly, her hand moving to his wrist lovingly. “I’ll always come back to you mi amor.” Her lips met his to seal her promise to him.
Eva was very happy for him, her envy was only surface, after all the little roustabout was only a pet… and who could really be envious of a dog? “What’s this?” She wondered as a panel on the large tub caught her attention. Gently, she waded away from Edward, just far enough to look at the modern controls. “This world is very complicated.” She said, casually pressing one of the buttons- that just so happened to turn on the jets.
He’d probably have to make it clear one day to Kerr about the extent of their relationship, but for now he was enjoying himself and he was pretty sure she was too. As it turned out Edward happened to be sitting with his back against one of the jets and jumped a bit when a burst of water suddenly hit him. It took him a moment to realize what it was and then started chuckling. “Whatever it is, don’t turn it off.” He said as the water started swirling around the tub.
Eva laughed as the water bubbled. She ‘swam’ back over to him and settled into his lap, maybe there were some things to like about the modern world. Just as she settled back in his lap the sound of the front door caught her ears- even over the jets, their hearing could pick it up. Her head whipped over, looking into the house through the large windows. The familiar red hair was seen entering, accompanied by a dark haired man. “Oh… looks like dinner may be here.” She giggled, kissing Edward’s neck.
Edward heard it too and looked around, not complaining for a moment about having Eva on his lap. “Just have to be patient, Andrea will call us when it’s ready.” He replied in a hushed tone that only she would be able to hear, even though the human was still inside they didn’t need him getting suspicious. His gaze caught for a moment with Andrea’s and he gave a little nod before turning his attention back to Eva. “Now… I’ve told you about my little pet, what’s the latest with yours?”
Eva shook her head. “Not as much as you’d think. James is obsessing over some new project, and I make sure he’s fed and watered- I really don’t know how he got on before me. The others are… well I’m getting a bit bored with some.” Sometimes humans appeared interesting on the surface, but the more you got to know them… the more you realize… they’re only human.
The back of his fingers ran down Eva’s jaw as she spoke of the other pets were starting to get a bit boring. “I’m sorry my love, maybe when we finally get away from this town things might improve.” He really hoped that eventually they’d leave New Orleans, as nice as the city was. He longed for something different, not to mention a different time that wasn’t as full of idiots and technology. “I think our girl will get along fine without us.” Another quick look over his shoulder towards the house.
She followed his eyes and witnessed Andrea, being handsy with her ‘date’- or… it seemed he was being more so with her. “You think?” Eva frowned, laying her head against Edward. “I’ve come to actually like her I think. Am a bad sire for leaving her?” When they left. If they left.
Inside the couple was clearly having a conversation. She was nodding and gestured toward the doors leading out to the hot tub. She then seemed to excuse herself and left the view as the man started to take off his shirt. He was skinny and you could see old track marks on his arms- a victim chosen for a reason.
Edward rubbed Eva's back soothingly, he hated it when Eva felt sad. "You've done more for her than my sire ever did for me. And she's got this far on her own." His head turned slightly to press a kiss to her temple. "There's no shortage of food here for her."
The man was starting to remove his pants as he walked to the open sliding door. “And she learned quickly how to find it.” Eva mused softly. “But what if she gets lonely?” She looked to Edward with a frown. “She doesn’t have an Eddie to keep her company.” Her fingers brushed over his chest as she pouted. “I don’t know what I would have done without you to be with me.”
The man stopped short, pants around his ankles as he saw the two vampires in the hot tub. “Um… And-” He started.
“Momma, Poppa!” Andrea exclaimed, coming up behind the man in a skimpy bikini. “I brought home dinner.” Before the man could even turn around, her teeth were at his throat and a hand came up in front of him holding two wine glasses which she filled with the heavy stream of blood from the man’s neck.
Edward didn't really have time to answer Eva's question as the man appeared before he could think of a reply. He had spent enough time over the years on the streets hunting for an easy meal so knew by the skinny frame and marks that this was an addict of some description, Andrea probably lured him with the promise of drugs or sex.
He watched as Andrea bit down on the guy's jugular and filled the glasses with the resulting blood. Despite Eva's worries Edward thought that the fledgling vampire would get along just fine on her own. "Mmm, you do know how to entertain, darling girl."
A smile did come to her face, like a proud parent as Andrea let the body drop to the floor. Eva took the offered glass as the girl joined them in the hot tub. She passed one to Edward before taking the other for herself. “Thank you mija. I’m very pleased to see you’re well.” Her lips pressed against the glass as she took a sip of fresh blood.
“I always liked this place… just not the man who lived here.” She commented, glancing around. “I think it is much nicer now.”
Edward took a sip, humming softly at the taste of the fresh blood, there was a slightly different taste to it but it satisfied his hunger none the less. His free arm settled back around Eva as Andrea sat with them in the tub, he wasn't sure why she was wearing something that looked like undergarments, he and Eva preferred nudity anyway.
"You've made it your own, we all need somewhere comfortable to spend the days, I did notice that you outfitted one of the bedrooms for yourself." Darkened windows to keep out the sunlight were a requirement and Andrea had done just that.
“Had to make it feel like home.” She smiled in reply.
Eva laughed lightly. “And so you should. It’s your place now, after all. You should change it however you feel is right.”
Andrea seemed to appreciate the approval. “I also did up one the spare room… so when you visit, you can stay the day and be safe.”
Edward looked over at Eva with an eyebrow raised as he took another sip from his glass, there was no real rush to get back to Zion, they could stay the day if Eva wished to. It would be a change from their usual routine and he was sure that the two women would enjoy the time to bond a bit more. “What do you think my love, shall we spend the day here?”
Eva was delighted at the offer, having secretly hoped that he’d recommend it. “I would love that.” She moved from Edwards lap and to the side, setting her glass aside. A small giggle escaped her at the jet before she beckoned Andrea over to join them.”And you can show us more about this modern world of yours.” She smiled, slipped an arm around the girls and nuzzling up to her. The young woman blushed at the nudity of the other two vampires, but tried not to let it be noticed.
As Eva moved over to let Andrea between them Edward took a moment to stretch out, enjoying the movement of the water from the jets. He did have some tips to share with her about hunting in an urban territory such as this, but that could all wait, the 3 of them could relax in this tub all night if they wished, the water wasn't getting cold surprisingly. "Your Momma here was worried that you might not be surviving out here on your own, but it looks to me as if you are."
“Not about surviving.” Eva corrected him with a tsk. “About being alone.” She brushed a strand of that red hair back and regarded her ‘daughter’. “I know it was hard losing your brother.” Andrea did her best to not show the pain- or maybe it was more disappointment- she felt over her former lover's death. “I just don’t want you to feel like we’re abandoning you.”
Andrea furrowed her brow and looked between the two of them. “But momma, poppa… we can still talk on the phone. And you can always visit. So, I’ll never really be alone.”
Sure, they weren’t certain when, or even if they’d be returning to their own time. But there was more and more talk and rumor about things being close. Eva frowned and looked away, not wanting to dash her daughter's optimism.
Edward saw the look on Eva’s face. “We’re not going to be in New Orleans forever, when the carnival goes, so shall we. We might even go overseas if that’s what the manager wants.” He said. They would talk to Andrea about it tomorrow, try to explain that when they left, it would be forever. No phone call or visit could bridge that distance, but for now they’d enjoy the company of the now beautiful redhead. Putting a hand on the back of the tub his hand brushed Eva’s, a silent gesture that everything would be alright. “Tell us about your hunting… how do you decide?”
Eva looked at Edward over the back of the tub with a thankful look.
“Oh… well..” Andrea shrugged slightly, her face looked a little shamed. “I know- knew a lot of people like I was. People just looking for another score… people no one would miss. I know where they hang out.” She looked at the body on the floor and tilted her head slightly. “He was on the street, trying to turn a trick for some money for a score. I told him I was working for Curtis- this is his place.” She gestured. “Said I could hook him up.”
Eva smiled softly, watching Edward’s reaction. She was very resourceful, smart… when she wasn’t strung out. He’d given her a really good birthday present.
He listened as Andrea spoke, she was definitely smarter now she wasn’t dependent on drugs and who knew what else. In a way he was glad that it was her that Eva had turned and not the man that turned out to be Andrea’s first meal.
“A word of warning for you though. Get clever with how you kill your prey, there are probably still people out there who hunt our type and if lots of bodies turn up with bite marks on their necks they will start looking for you.” He warned, not wanting Andrea to start drawing attention to herself. “In rural areas your Momma here likes to rip their throats out, make it look like some wild animal attack. I used to slit their wrist, especially those down on their luck, make it appear like they did it to themselves.”
She nodded. “It shouldn’t be too hard to make it look like an overdose. Or a mugging.” Eva could almost see her mind turning.
Eva kissed the girl’s cheek. “I’m sure you’ll be just fine mija.” She reached out behind the girl to rest her hand on Edwards arm. “And I will tell you what we are going to do. Tomorrow… we’ll show you more about the gifts that come with being a Nightwalker… and how you can use them to… limit the amount of dead bodies.” She giggled.
Edward nodded, Andrea was street smart and savvy, she’d pick up on it quick enough and he just hoped that if and when they left that she’d be alright by herself, at least they could teach her some survival skills and not just the basics that his own sire had done before leaving him to his own devices and having to learn things as he went along.
“Oh it is a lot of fun!” He agreed with Eva’s statement, winking over at her. “You’d be surprised what you can make these humans do. Some of them are special enough that we even make them our pets, but like your Momma said, that is for tomorrow.” Taking another sip from his almost empty glass he licked his lips. “I taste a hint of opioids, I haven’t tasted this for quite a while.” Since his time in London before he had met Eva.
Andrea winced. “I was hoping to find someone clean. He looked like he hadn’t had a hit in a while… probably not long enough.” She apologized.
“Oh mija, you did your best.” Eva brushed her hand over her hair. “Your Poppa was just making an observation. It changes the taste… but no worries… it won’t affect you like it did your imperfect human life. So we’re not going to say anything if you happen to enjoy the taste.”
His hand rubbed Andrea’s arm reassuringly, agreeing to Eva’s words. “And as you said, he is one of those humans that no one will miss. Think of it as your... vampiric duty to clean up the streets of the city that you love, ridding them of those who cause pain and suffering of others.” The glass raised for a moment, as if giving a toast. “Do what the police cannot.”
Eva took her glass up again. “And there’s nothing wrong with a little flavor.” She laughed, taking a drink.
