Ye know it’s never been about the chair with me, don’t ye?
Not much had happened since Kieran followed that man in town. They’d passed on the information but they were still trapped there in New Orleans, one hundred years in the future. He hadn’t really mastered the cellphone yet but whenever Jack messaged him he made sure to respond. This time Jack asked him to meet him so after making it back to the wagon to change his dirty clothes and wash the grime off his arms. Finally he made his way to the campsite, per Jack's instructions.
When he arrived he saw Jack, sitting in his chair on a picnic blanket with food. A smile came to his face and he kneeled down onto the blanket to press a kiss to his lips. “Ye did this for me?” He asked Jack, settling down on the blanket next to him.
It was near the same location he’d found when they’d first arrived in 2020 and gotten himself stuck. This time, he had a trick up his sleeve. He sat above Kieran in his chair and shrugged. “Figured with all y’ve done y’could do with some pamperin’.” Jack replied with a smirk. “Had one of the fella’s bring back some food, they all recommended this place that’s got good French food. Figured was worth a try.”
He pulled back on his wheels to move him away so he’d have room to sit. The blanket on his lap was pulled aside, while a ‘date’ his attire was normal for him- not like he had many options. He locked his wheels and looked down at his palm. Inside rested a silver ring, only slightly tarnished from the few minutes it took to set everything up. He’d followed James’ directions perfectly and it had worked- thankfully potions didn’t require any real external magic to trigger once activated. Carefully he slid the twined circle onto his finger and moved as if he were going to lower himself to the ground. Of course, Kieran started to get up to help and Jack waved him off.
He felt the magic fortify him again, supporting him, fooling his body into thinking there was nothing wrong. As Jack pushed off his chair, instead of lowering, he rose to standing. Like it had before, it took a moment to center himself, but once he was on his feet, he held out his arms to Kieran in sort of a ‘tada’ moment.
Kieran had expected to help Jack out of the chair, to place him down on the blanket like he was used to doing. He didn’t expect to be laid down on a blanket looking at Jack standing from his chair. The shock was apparent on the fine details of his face: his mouth agape, his words unable to form, and an overwhelming feeling of inadequacy. Who did this for him and why couldn’t he heal him himself? Finally, Kieran managed to think of some words to reply with.
“How did ye do this?” It was the only question he could think to ask, because every other question vanished with the residual shock. Of course he was thrilled for Jack. Even for a just a moment he could remember what it was like to be out of that chair. That part of it made him happy but another part felt heartbroken that he wasn’t the one to do it.
“Magic.” He said with a small laugh. Jack held up his hand, showing Kieran the ring. “It’s not real. It’s an illusion, hard to explain, but it only lasts a couple hours. I have enough stuff to replenish the spell a few times, but too much and I can actually hurt myself.” He explained. “Since I’m not actually fixed.” Even he didn’t fully understand the magic behind it, illusion not being his specialty and all.
Hands held out, he gestured for Kieran to get up and come over to him. “Let’s take advantage while we have it though, yea?”
Standing from his knees he walked up to Jack and pulled him into his arms. For Kieran, it didn’t matter if Jack was in a wheelchair, it was the person that he was that made him so lovable. He couldn’t deny that there was something nice about it, but it was more about the way it made Jack felt. He brought a hand up to brush a bit of hair that had grown over his eyes to the side and cupped his cheek. “I’ll be happy to take advantage of ye in any position.” He teased and pressed a soft kiss to Jack's lips.
When they broke he smirked at him and raised an eyebrow in the direction of the food. “I am a bit peckish though, shall we eat something then?” His stomach was definitely starting to rumble.
“Yes, let’s eat.” He said, taking a moment to memorize the new perspective on his boyfriend. When they laid next to each other it wasn’t as clear, but he was just slightly taller by a few inches. Kieran was just as attractive at that angle.
Once they sat, Jack opened the plastic containers holding the food. “I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what they brought back.” He chuckled as he passed Kieran one of the plastic forks. They had a beef dish and a duck dish. Well made and before they dug in, Jack gestured slightly, pulling time back to make the food warm again.
If it wasn’t obvious by the rumblings from his belly then the way he devoured the food was an indicator. Kieran’s appetite grew large after a hard day with roustabout duties and he was glad he didn’t have to deal with whatever they had in the mess hall. “Delicious.” He said once he’d finished chewing.
This was all very sweet of Jack to do and Kieran beamed at the happiness he could see Jack was feeling. “Ye know it’s never been about the chair for me, don’t ye?” Sometimes he worried that Jack thought too little of himself.
While there was always a part of him that hated the chair, doubted when people said they didn’t notice it or care about it. Because it wasn’t just the chair, it was everything that came with it. His mobility, places he couldn’t go, the mood swings that sometimes came with the pain or painkillers, the fact that some people did ignore him because of his disability (more back at home than in 2020). Jack accepted who he was, liked himself but he couldn’t deny the flaws that came with it. “I know.” He said, reaching out to pull Kieran closer so he could steal a kiss. “But I thought this would be a fun treat. Maybe do some things we’ve not been able to do.” He smiled softly at the older man. “I also may have a way home.” He added, almost as an unimportant afterthought.
After finishing his food he wiped his mouth for any remainders before he accepted a kiss from Jack. At the announcement that he might have found a way home, Kieran’s mouth was agape yet again. “Ye’ve been a busy lad, haven’t ye?” He remarked and turned Jack's face to him to address him eye to eye.
“Well don’t keep me in suspense, what did ye find?” He pleaded. There was nothing more he wanted then to be back in their own time. He’d put in for an order of scotch before they went back but he was certain he never wanted be in 2020 again.
Jack moved the empty food containers out of the way and moved closer to Kieran as he spoke. “I was gettin’ nowhere with the books, so I visited the Professor t’see what he might reckon. Figured he was keen on book learning’ when it came to magic. Apparently Owen had a theory ‘bout usin’ a focus item or somethin’ like magicians like the Professor do. But never got it t’work. The Professor thinks he can figure it out. Some a’ his and some a’ mine and maybe we can make it big enough t’go home.” He explained. “Just means I gotta be practicin’ the big stuff a bit more- get better control. Tap into the magic I mean- when…” he gestured behind home where his wings were when he tapped into a leyline.
It seemed dangerous, like something that could hurt or kill Jack and Kieran didn’t like the sound of it one bit. “Is it safe?” He asked Jack, his look suggested he wasn’t in the mood for lies, but when was he ever? The last thing he wanted to do was put Jack in danger and the last time he did something like this he was comatose for days.
“I don’t care where I am as long as ye’re there too.” He insisted, snaking an arm behind Jack's back to pull him closer.
He moved where their bodies were so close they were touching. “If we plan ahead, it won’t be as dangerous.” He said, not being able to lie about something so serious. “But I’m the one who messed this all up- I gotta fix it.” Jack said with a frown.
He sighed and leaned his head onto Jack's shoulder, bringing his arm to circle around his boyfriend. “Just promise me ye’ll be careful.” Kieran wasn’t sure he could handle Jack going through another coma. Who knew how long he’d be out this time and his body wasn’t in peak shape to work through it.
He leaned up his head to regard Jack again, biting his lower lip. “So was this all ye had in mind for tonight cause ye didn’t need your legs for this?” He offered him a smirk and a raised brow.
“I will.” Jack said. He had the professor helping him, and he’d practice to make sure he was ready. As it was, they couldn’t leave until they rescued Edi.
Looking down at Kieran, Jack felt a grin pull at his lips. “I had a few ideas.” He leaned in and kissed Kieran once again, a hand moving to his leg as the other pulled at the hem of his shirt, eager to feel the Scot’s skin under his fingers.
Kieran’s eyelids lowered as he felt Jack's hands pull his shirt from his trousers. His heartbeat sped as he felt the electric touch of Jack's lips against his. It had been a few months but Kieran still felt a spark every time they touched. He let one hand come up to play with the hair on the nape of his neck and the other rested on his waist, burrowing his fingers into the soft material.
When the kiss broke he pressed his forehead against Jacks. “Should we take this back to the wagon?” He wondered aloud, desperate to tear off Jack's clothes.
Was probably better that way, right? Jack nodded. “Yea, y’read my mind.” He smirked.
Once they’d packed the blacket up into that magic bag Jack had, he took his place back on his chair and slipped the ring off to save the magic. More silver had faded, revealing the copper ring below (a sign of how much time he had left). As the ring was removed, he felt the magic that had wrapped around his spine disperse only to return once they were back in their wagon after he replaced the ring on his finger.
Jack moved his chair to the side as he stood back up and pulled Kieran to him, barely giving the other man a chance to close the door to their home. “I don’t want to waste this.” He said, slipping an arm around his lover. The illusion had other, unintended side effects. As it made his spine believe it was undamaged, those nerves that ran through and had been affected also thought they were normal. This meant that with much less coaxing than normal, Jack could feel himself grow at the thought of what the night would bring for them.
The quick retreat back to the wagon felt like too long so when Jack grabbed him before the door closed, Kieran didn’t blink. He made quick work of their clothes, pulling Jack’s shirt off in one fell swoop and began to unbuckle Jack's pants. He hadn’t realized how much easier it was to undress him while he was still standing. Within seconds Kieran had undone his buckle and began to pull Jacks pants down his legs.
“I love you.” He said with a smile as he pulled back for a moment to look at him. Jack was beautiful like this. Pupils blown, hair a mess, mouth a slick red circle. He wished he could see
him this way all the time.
Jack kicked his trousers aside and stood there a moment. Kieran’s clothes had managed to be shed amid his own and the two men stood before each other bare to the world. Oh, it was physically evident what Kieran was doing to him and in response, he stepped forward, put his hand on his chest and guided him back to the bed. Oh, in the past few months Jack had become a bit more confident in bed, that was sure. But in that moment when he felt whole again, it was like he had a whole new vigor.
Once Kieran was sat on the bed, he let his hand trail down his chest as he lowered and kneeled on the floor before him. It was something others might find so natural that they’d had to ‘figure out’ how to accomplish with Jack’s limitations. His fingers trailed up the other man’s thighs until they met in the middle. The angle was so much better than he’d had before as he leaned in to run his tongue along that steady growing erection.
As Jack kneeled before him Kieran pushes his fingers into his hair. He wasn’t sure how but somehow Jack was the sexiest he’d ever been. The feeling of his tongue against his erection caused Kieran to moan uncontrollably. He knew Jack didn’t have any much experience in this but Kieran could never complain. “Jack…” he moaned in encouragement.
Kieran had been his teacher, and he’d been patient with him as he struggled with his own perceived inadequacies. This wasn’t the first time that Jack had used his mouth to pleasure his lover, but before it involved a lot more laying down and work on Kieran’s part. This time, the man could relax and enjoy. He ran a hand to rest up on his hip as he took him into his mouth, lips pressing as they moved along the ever firming shaft. He hummed softly as he remembered how it felt when Kieran had done a similar thing to him.
His skin sizzled and popped under the graceful weight of Jack's tongue. While normally Kieran didn’t get so greedy he couldn’t quite help himself with Jack. He wanted him all for himself. In the darkness of the room his skin glowed. From the jump in time he must have aged as an angel would. When once it was only his eyes now his whole body appeared lighter.
He bit down on his bottom lip and moaned as he felt the warm wetness travel down his shaft. Jack might not have been experienced at first but he was a fast learner.
He had a good teacher, and imagined what he liked and reciprocated. A hand joined his lips once the shaft was fully grown. His tongue swirled the mushroom tip as some pre hit his taste buds. Eventually, he pulled back to take a breath and smiled up at Kieran, a bit shyly. He’d tried to take charge in the past, but with his limitations it always ended up as a joint venture.
Fingers moved up from the Angel’s hips to his abdomen and chest. “God Damn, I love you.” He rose from his knees and pushed Kieran back onto the bed. Lips found purchase on his collar once the two were fully on the bed. He braced himself with one arm as he laid over the other man. He took both erections in one hand and slowly ran it up and down their length. Jack hadn’t given the action any forethought, nothing he’d thought about before, but it wasn’t something that they’d never tried. Feeling Kieran held against himself made him moan amid the kiss.
This was different than usual, it was often that Kieran made the moves. He was so careful because of Jack's injuries but this was something else entirely. He moved easily at Jack's request, feeling the pull of them together just like magnets. “Mo grá.” He moaned into Jack's mouth as he felt his hand working between them. He wrapped one arm around Jack and let his hand slide slowly down the curve of his back until he had a firm grip on his ass.
Kieran’s heartbeat was racing, it was almost fluttering but it was nothing to the skin and electricity next to him. His mouth moved to the spot beneath Jack's ear and he placed kisses along the length of his neck.
He was grateful for his upper body strength as he held himself above his lover. His lips caressed that soft earlobe. “I want you.” Jack whispered, his hips pressing against Kieran as he held them firmly. Pulling up, he slipped his fingers over their heads, pulling some warm pre with him. His hand then moved below, between Kieran’s cheeks as two fingers applied a bit of pressure.
Pushing into Jack's fingers he whispered back between kisses. “I’m yours.” And brought his hand to the small of Jack's back to maximize pressure. He was still careful with his touch, a force of habit that he was too stimulated to keep in check.
It was an interesting experience not forced to be prone. Being able to sit on his knees and move his hips with no pain. After loosening Kieran up a bit with his fingers, Jack applied some spit for lubricant (neither having discovered the modern conveniences) and slowly slid himself inside. It took a moment to figure out the best position, but Kieran helped and soon, Jack’s hips rocked, moving his length within his lover. “Oh…” He gasped with pleasure as he braced himself by holding the Angel’s hip. His other hand reached out and took Kieran’s in grasp. “Okay?” He asked, wanting to make sure he was good.
There was always a period of adjustment, even if Jack had prepared him first but it was a good stretch that brought pleasure along with pain. He nodded his head and rocked with him. Kieran had been in different positions in relationships with other man, been the one on top but something about their dynamic influenced him to take Jack this time especially considering it was his first time with a man.
Words didn’t quite form as he felt Jack hit that spot that made every nerve in his body fire at will. “Yes..” was all he could make out in the heat of the fiery passion and he moved his hips so Jack could go deeper.
He looked up as he made love to his boyfriend and absently opened his sight. Around him, he could see the invisible threads of leylines flowing around them, around all of Zion. One passed through his shoulder. He took a hand and reached between Kieran’s legs, grabbing the man’s firm shaft to give him more pleasure as he moved in and out of his tight ass. “I want you to come with me.” Jack said amid grunts.
Skin slapped on skin and Kieran took over stroking himself as he encouraged Jack to speed up a bit. The two men were in sync. Jack could feel the pressure build and quickly pulled out, taking himself into hand to bring himself to finish. He could see Kieran speed up as well and the look on his face told him that he was close. The idea had come to him, and despite his mind clouding as he came closer to climax, he forced himself to focus enough.
Channeling that line that was passing through him, he drew the energy into himself. Stringed wings of color flowed out of his back as the moment in time slowed. Half speed, a quarter, Jack drew the moment out. In their bubble that peak of pleasure lasted thirty seconds, a minute, five minutes- his vision blurred and he felt light headed shortly after the six minute mark and the bubble broke. Meanwhile, the rest of the world passed time as normal.
Jack collapsed to the bed, half on Kieran. HIs breathing was heavy and his heart was racing as his entire body trembled and tingled. His fingers were sticky with pearls of white and he felt happily drained.
The time bubble was something he didn’t bring out often, this was only the second time Jack had done something like that and Kieran wasn’t exactly used to it. Exhausted and sated Kieran peered over at Jack's exhausted face and wrapped an arm around his torso. His other hand came to rest on Jack's cheek before he leaned in to press a kiss to his lips. “How much longer before ye have to break the spell?” Safely, which was Kieran’s number one priority as always.
His wings twitched, not used to be out as Jack didn’t often tap into leylines directly. “First, we have to wait for Kristoph to figure out how to save Edi.” He said, “Or are you talking about…” Jack held up his hand and looked at the ring. Most of the silver had faded, revealing the copper below. “I think… about ten… maybe fifteen minutes.”
Kieran smirked at that, taking in the expanse of his body with his eyes. “Can I try something with ye? We can stop if ye don’t like it.” He wondered aloud, biting down on his lip. He was sated but being around Jack like this was something else and he wanted to soak it in as much as humanly possible.
More than anything Jack looked beautiful right now. A sweaty mess in his arms completely satisfied and his heart beating from his chest. Kieran’s own face was flushed, the freckles on his face brightening with his ruddy skin.
Jack nodded. “Yea… of course.” Ready to follow Kieran wherever he went.
Letting go of Jack he slid out from underneath him so that Jack was laying on his stomach. He grabbed a pillow and put it underneath his abdomen. Leaning over Jack he pressed kisses to his shoulder blade, down his spine to the small of his back. Then came his tongue which travelled from his crack to his hole. He was gentle at first, lapping at it before he lightly plunged his tongue inside. His focus was alert in case Jack wanted to stop him.
Jack let out a little gasp. “Oh.” His teeth bit down on his lip as he felt his nerves react. He knew it was an illusion, but the sensations, the feelings were so much clearer than normal. Below his injury, every touch felt like he was feeling it through many layers of fabric. They were all muted, well except for the pain. The pain was always sharp and clear. But with the ring on, all those sensations were loud and wonderful, it was the pain that was silent.
He took his time, trying to gauge Jacks reactions and adjusting his technique as he listened to Jacks labored breathing. One hand rested on the globe of his ass and the other reached underneath him to find his shaft and run his hand along it. They wouldn’t have much time left so he was doing his best to unravel Jack in a short amount of time.
Oh and the illusion was working it’s magic as his member had barely started to soften, turned right around and began to get hard again. “Oh Kieran.” He moaned, head falling to the bed as everything felt sharp and electric.
Now, it’s not that Jack did feel good or climax when with Kieran normally. He did, it did. And it was just as exciting and passionate. It just took longer, more work to achieve what Kieran was able to achieve at that moment with a mere touch of his hand or lick of his tongue. He didn’t have to fight through the partial numbness of his nerves, everything was alight.
Kieran focused on Jacks reactions and based on his heady moans he was thoroughly enjoying it. He slid his hand up and down the length of Jacks shaft and reached his other hand up the expanse of his back. It was a beautiful sight and was sweeter because Jack could feel as good as he made Kieran feel.
His grasp twisted on Jacks shaft and he sped up his movements with the rhythm of Jacks hips, grasping to see him unravel from his touch.
The wings on his back twitched as he was brought to the edge once again that night. “Kieran.” He gasped as his cock throbbed within his lover’s hand. His forehead pressed into the bed as he felt the pleasure radiate over him. Not just physical, but emotional, spiritual. There was so much outside the wagon doors that he had to worry about, so much trouble he felt he’d caused. But in that moment, he felt whole.
Climbing back up to lay down next to Jack, Kieran smiled at him and oh what a sight he was. He looked absolutely ruined and Kieran was glad he was the one responsible for it. “So I take it ye liked that?” He teased, bringing his hands to brush a stray hair off of Jack's forehead.
This was always the best part, the discovery of each other. It was the part where love felt the best. Over time it would soften but never go away completely. Even though it hurt when they were gone, Kieran always treasured the time they had together, however small.
Jack smiled at Kieran. “Y’could tell?” He asked with a small laugh. Reaching his hand up to touch the other man, he paused. The ring was almost completely copper. “Times up.” The illusion magic that had wrapped around his spine pulled back and he gritted his teeth as he felt those familiar jolts of pain through his legs. He tried to hide it, but a small grunt escaped him as his fingers balled up. Jack didn’t want Kieran to worry, he knew how the doctor was.
“‘M fine.” He informed before he could say anything. “Jus’ rememberin’ how important mah exercises are.” After all, the illusion made his body think it was whole again, but the work out they’d done that evening, all the movements he normally couldn’t… his muscles had still completed. That meant things were going to be sore.
Kieran had spent his whole existence healing people so he could see the subtle clues of someone trying to mask their pain. Getting up from the bed he reached into a cabin to grab new painkillers that he stocked up on when they last went into town. This one was called Hydrocodone and it would do the trick for the time being and then some while his body got back to normal. At the very least it’d allow him the peace of some sleep.
Grabbing some water from the bedside stand he handed the pill to Jack. “Take this.” He demanded of his lover and sat back down on the bed next to him. He would be lying if he said Jack's comfort didn’t come first and foremost.
Jack gave him a look that bordered between ‘I’m fine, I don’t need you to worry.’ and ‘Thank you, I needed that.’. He pushed himself to sitting and took the pills as instructed. “Thank y’.”
Carefully he pulled the ring off and placed it on the small table beside the bed, while it was currently dead, he still had potion left to recharge it if needed. Jack repositioned himself in the bed, catching his wing at one point with a slight wince. They wouldn’t fade for a while yet, even though he wished they’d go away quicker. As he settled into the bed, he reached out to Kieran to join him fully. “I dun know what I did to deserve ya.”
Pressing himself against Jack he let a hand come up to rest against his cheek. “Yer a good man, good people deserve all the good things that happen to them.” He said and pressed a kiss to Jack's forehead. The truth of the matter was that Kieran didn’t deserve Jack. He couldn’t help him become the person he had been before, he couldn’t heal him, he couldn’t make him whole again. All he could do for the young boy who he’d watched grow up before his eyes was make him comfortable.
Trying to hide the sadness in his eyes at that part he offered Jack a smile. “It’s best ye get some rest. Those pills should knock you out well enough.” And they did, as Jack was soon curled against him breathing steadily with his eyes closed.
