Go Rake the Leaves Off Your Grass and My Grave (Finished Thread)
Who: L, Light, and Seto Kaiba (finished)
When: Today (L and Light's first day working at The Happy Bookworm
Where: The Happy Bookworm
What: Kaiba reminds L of Light. He'll find out why pretty soon.
Rating/Warnings: PG-ish? No warnings as of yet.
L couldn't say that he was particularly pleased with the way things had been going so far in this new life he'd been leading. He had everything he needed, but he'd been saddled with a job far more ordinary than he was used to, as well as one far more extraordinary. He was a book salesperson, and the Metatron. Why he, of all people, had been selected for the latter position, he had no idea. But he knew that Light was the other side's equivalent, and that apparently, in any world, they were destined to determine each other's fates.
He glanced at his current task. He was busy shelving volumes in a children's series by number. It was such a mindless job, in so many ways... his hands, stronger than they looked, grasped each bound spine and wedged it in next to others of the same size and color in the order the author had intended them to be read. There was nothing wrong, with L's current work performance, but there would be shortly. His mind, always busy and as fidgety as he himself was, would feel resentful about not being asked to do anything up to its impressive caliber.
It didn't help at all that Light was his manager, of course. So far, L hadn't met any of his other co-workers (supposedly, there were two women who shared his station and wages), but it was Light's ultimately superior job that was currently grating on L's nerves. Not to mention the fact that their roles were essentially reversed from what they were used to. Light would be essentially supervising L, now.
