Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who : O and Aidan
Where : Where else?
When : Thursday

O was a dutiful hamster owner, which probably wouldn't surprise anyone who knew him, not even Aidan. He was cleaning his cage out, like he did every week, and the hamster, still nameless, was rolling around on the floor around his feet and the legs of the chair. He'd finished scrubbing out all the plastic tubes and put in fresh wood chips and hamster bedding, water, pellets, and some chew toys. He was making food now, cutting vegetables and fruits into little shapes like flowers and hearts and all sorts of minuscule treats artfully prepared in ways a rodent would never appreciate or even comprehend.

O had become much more cordial in general when it came to Aidan but he still wasn't nice or overly friendly. He certainly didn't smile or spend a lot of time in conversation. He'd also given up completely on the thought that anyone from Stargate would come for him. He was willing to bet they didn't even remember him. Koty and Braylen, they'd probably all moved on a long time ago.

"Here we go." O told the hamster as he set all the food teats in his bowl and then turned around to catch him in the ball.

Adrian had been in the bathroom for a shower, and emerged when O was just finishing up with the cage. He was dressed, in jeans and a t-shirt, his hair damp and curled against his forehead, his feet bare. A bit of steam leaked out when he opened the door and stepped out into the living area.

Looking around he spotted O crouched down with the hamster in its ball. He padded over and looked into the cage, arching an eyebrow as he did so.

"Why did you cut his food into shapes?" he asked, because that seemed a weird thing to do for people let alone a hamster which probably wouldn't even notice.

O looked up at Aidan and fought back the usual surge of contempt for his kidnapper. He was trying to get used to him since he and this place was going to be his home now. "I have free time," he answered and unscrewed the lid to the ball, reaching in to take the hamster out. He put the ball in the sink to clean before looking down at his pet and running his fingers over his super soft fur.

"Well yeah, but still. It's fruit. For a hamster." Aidan didn't get it, even if O had a lot of time on his hands. Surely there were other things he could be doing. He had offered to pick things up for O if he had any hobbies!

"Have you named the thing yet?" he asked as he took a few steps back and settled down on the couch, propping his feet up on the coffee table in front of him.

"No." O admitted and reached into the cage to set the hamster down. The rodent had to then, of course, run all over his new home to check things out and then had to mess around in the fluffy bedding to make a nest. "I don't want to name it something silly like...Snickers or Zippy or...whatever it is you American's name things."

"I wouldn't name a hamster Snickers or Zippy," Aidan said mildly. "Not that I'd want a hamster." He didn't really see the point of them. There wasn't a lot to do with them, although O seemed to enjoy his. "Well you should give it some name. So you're not just calling it 'it'."

"It doesn't matter, it's a hamster, it doesn't understand what I'm saying to it or that it doesn't have a name." He carried the cage back towards its spot on the coffee table and then turned back to face Aidan. "Can we go outside? I'd like to go out."

"That's not the point, exactly," Aidan said with a grin. "A baby wouldn't know it had a name either but you'd give it one." Not that hamsters and babies were in the same ballpark.

He glanced to the door. "I don't know if that's a good idea."

O looked deflated when Aidan didn't immediately agree to taking him outside. He hadn't said 'no' but O was tired of trying to convince him of things so he just went back to the sink to wash out his hamster's ball. "A baby will learn it's own name. They have that ability. Hamsters don't."

"Maybe," Aidan said with a little shrug of his shoulder. He frowned when O seemed to wilt a little bit. He really was trying to keep his captive as content as possible.

"Okay, we can go outside," he said with a sigh.

"Maybe? Of course-" he began but then Aidan said something that was much more interesting. He smiled and looked back over his shoulder at him. "Thank you." He left the ball in the sink and then took hold of Aidan's hand. "Let's go."

Aidan debated tying O up somehow, to make sure he behaved himself. But really, they were in the middle of nowhere, with forest that stretched for miles, and he was bigger, with a longer stride, so there wasn't too much trouble O could get into, he figured.

"Alright," he said as he felt the smaller hand slide into his, surprised by that, because O never touched him if he could help it. He kept hold of his hand and went to the door, opening it and stepping out onto the front step. Trees stretched out all around them.

O was just trying to make Aidan feel better about his decision and to inspire him to take him out without tying him up. When they stepped out it was difficult to not be too excited. He hadn't seen the sun and nature in a long time. He could stare at it through windows but that wasn't the same. He looked up at Aidan with another smile and tightened the grip he had on his hand before pulling him down the stairs and towards the wilderness around them.

Aidan allowed O to lead the way as they stepped away from the cabin. The trees were tall and solid, creating a leafy canopy above that the sun shone through, dappling the ground. Everything smelled fresh and alive, and chipmunks could be heard chittering in trees, and birds fluttering about.

"What do you want to do?" he asked the younger man as they walked. "Just walk?"

"I guess that depends on what's out there." O grinned as he held onto Aidan's hand. It wasn't long to step into the woods. "Maybe there's a lake or something." That would be fun, a little swimming.

"There is," Aidan said with a nod, because he knew the area well enough, had scouted the place out before he'd brought O there. "About half a mile from here. That way." He inclined his head in the right direction. "Why, you want to go swimming?" Then he looked a bit suspicious. "You'd probably try and drown me."

O looked over his shoulder at him and grinned before he took off at a quicker pace, pulling Aidan along with him. "You're probably right, I will. Come on!"

Aidan didn't think he had ever seen O grin before. So for that reason, if no other, he let himself be pulled along, through the trees, falling into step with him. "Well don't sound so happy about it," he said, almost teasing.

"Just let me know if I'm going in the wrong direction. Walking was fine but he couldn't imagine any better activity to do in the woods outside of swimming in a clean, natural lake with the fish and the weeds and the cold, sludgy lake bottom.

"So far, you're on the right track," Aidan grinned as they went. "What, you mean you don't have a homing signal for bodies or water or something?" he asked.

"Maybe that's why I'm heading in the right direction." He looked back over his shoulder at him. "Honestly...I feel a bit fuzzy. I haven't used my ability in so long it's like...I'm losing my touch." Or at least that was what it felt like.

"I doubt that," Aidan said wryly. "Well I guess we'll see." Since they would be at the water's edge soon enough, especially with the way that O was hurrying along. But it was nice to stretch the legs out, to get fresh air, so he didn't blame him.

When the trees started the slope down and then broke to reveal a shore stretching out on either side of them around a lake, O let go of Aidan's hand in favor of going to the edge of the water. He pushed his hands into it, feeling along the surface and through its depths to see just what was waiting for them in there. He smiled, looking up at him. "Good for swimming," he informed him and and stood, pulling his shirt up over his head and undoing his pants to strip out of them. He could swim in his underwear.

Aidan stood back a few yards, not because he was worried about what O was doing with the water, but just to observe him. He smiled a little bit, and then shrugged his shirt over his head.

"Feel good?" he asked as he undid his jeans and shoved them down, kicking off his shoes and stepping out of them.

"It's cold." Even though it was August already. Once O had folded up his clothes in a nice little pile he stepped out into the water, wading in. The deeper he got the stiffer his walk became and he laughed once he was up to his waist. The waves he made licked over his stomach and sides in a ticklish way.

Aidan dropped his clothes in a much more willy-nilly manner, tossing them aside to fall where they may and then went over to the edge of the water. It was cool, but in a good way, and he waded out, past his knees, up to his waist.

"Yeah,l this is pretty good," he grinned.
